I never seen the UK version... but I enjoyed the US version very much. Unfortunately it was canceled after the first season.  Plan on getting the DVD set for sure. Not sure now if I will pick up the UK version though.
You should. Most of the critics (all?) said it was better than the US version.

I normally disagree with most critics... but I still may give it a try

I'm honestly flabbergasted. Rich, "unoriginal"?  :o Life On Mars was a massive success and was very original. We desperately need more like it. Ok, clearly based on The Sweeney and a sneaky way to run anti-PC storylines, but as I keep saying, the cross-over done between the decades was very well done. I loved it. Not knowing if he was really back in time, or if it was a construct, plus the nostalgic nods. And plenty of action and very well written.

Now, Pete, you say you enjoyed the US version? As Karsten says that was very widely panned as a poor rip-off. And it isn't a critic thing when you think that if you enjoyed the stories and characters, it's the same thing. I just wonder how you'd get on with the very British settings and environments, but bear in mind that Tom has said he isn't keen on the police procedural side.

You're all bloody mad!  :tease:

I have watched three episodes so far now, and I must admit, that the series hasn't won me over yet.
Thanks for that initial "review", Tom.

Accoreing to Jon's reply this could be a slow burner and get better in later episodes; but then , there only is a relatively small amount of episodes in British series... I'll look out for further comments... If it's anything to go by though, the IMDb rating is 9.0!

I must say from another perspective, I tried LOM and never warmed to it either, I found the characters uninteresting, the storyline fairly unoriginal, and the actors too typecast.
If Tom gives this more of a run than I did, and gets to like it,  may have to revisit it

When LOM originally ran I didn't like it, but I watched the reruns and realy, really enjoyed it.

It is definately a series worthy of a second chance. Just like BSG, even if I still don't agree with making Starbuck a woman.

I had to pick up a few things from Walmart and I dug through the cheap bin. I picked up a few.

Der fliegende Ferdinand (Létající Čestmír)
Hmmm, that girl on the Ferdinand cover, wasn't she in another series...? Maybe she was called Luzy in the other one?

EDIT:
Before somebody calls me out for the lack of research:
Yes, she was in another series called "Luzie, der Schrecken der Straße".

Titanic (£5.48 at Amazon.co.uk)
I think with this I have all essential Titanic movies. If there is interest, I could make a marathon out of it.
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World (£13.74 at Amazon.co.uk)
Blind buy.
