Battle Royale

In the near future, the economy has collapsed, unemployment has soared and juvenile crime has exploded. Fearful of their nation's youth, the Japanese government passes The BR Law: Each year, a 9th grade class is sent to a remote island where they will be locked into exploding neck collars, given a random weapon, and forced to hunt and kill each other until there is only one survivor left. Chiaki Kuriyama (Kill Bill) and screen legend Takeshi Kitano (Boiling Point, Brother) star in this movie that has been argued, acclaimed and banned around the world. More than a decade later, it remains one of the most savage, shocking and emotionally powerful films of all time. Now experience Kinji Fukasaku's uncompromising masterpiece - nominated for 10 Japanese Academy Awards - available uncensored and unrated for the first time ever in North America.
Battle Royale II: Requiem

Few Japanese films in recent memory have caused such controversy and commotion as Battle Royale. Directed by the late great Kinji Fukasaku, the brilliant heart-stopping thriller portrayed a junior high school class lucky enough to be chosen and taken to an island where the 42 students are forced to kill one another until the last boy or girl is left standing. Based on the novel by Koshun Takami, Fukasaku worked on the script with his son Kenta. Now comes the much anticipated sequel, Battle Royale II, based on an original story by the Fukasakus. Like James Cameron's 'Aliens,' its tagline reads "This time it's war" ...And it is! It's been a few years since Shuya and Noriko survived their BR bloodbath. They're now known as the head of a terrorist group known as the Wild Seven who blew up a series of skyscrapers. This time, the government decides to send the latest bunch of BR candidates to eliminate them. The group includes Shiori Kitano, the daughter of Kitano (Takeshi 'Beat' Kitano), the teacher and the director of the BR program who was killed by Shuya and Noriko. The group has only three days to finish the job, and again, they must wear dog collars that explode. This time round however, the same numbered students are connected through the collars, and if one dies, the other's dog collar explodes. With even bigger actions than the first movie, BRII racks up a body count that would make Freddy and Jason envious.

I am pretty sure I will have to read these. These aren't in the database and I haven't had the chance to check them out yet. They are ones that ended up in the store... turned out to be bootlegs so they (people at the store I did a trade with.... friend of one of the employees) just threw them in my box instead of throwing them away.

Battle Royale II: Requiem
I am looking forward to read ow you liked these. The first one is one of my favorite films; the second one is far from the greatness of the former. Do they have an English audio track or will you have to read...?

Agreed. In fact, I found the sequel truly offensive. I've been away so long I can't remember, but didn't I post a link to the notes from a booklet I got with the sequel?  :hmmmm: It was an essay praising the film, but the points it raises perfectly demonstrated why I detested it so much.

In this hilarious final volume, the Griffin family faces all-new dilemmas, including Brian's unintentional foray into directing porn, Stewie's rants on national TV, Meg's date with a nudist and Lois's Yuletide insanity.

Meanwhile, Peter is surprised to discover Lois was once a groupie, and his son, Chris, is more "endowed" than he is.

The Thin White Line - Brian becomes a successful drug-sniffing dog, but gets addicted to cocaine in the process.

Brian Does Hollywood (2) - The Griffins find Brian in Hollywood, directing a porno. Meanwhile, Stewie plans to use a TV appearance to take over the minds of everyone on earth.

Stuck Together, Torn Apart - Lois meets an old male friend, and this makes Peter jealous.
