Family Matters: Season One (AxelMusic)
This is my reshipped order from my first delivery from Axelmusic. It finally arrived.
This series should probably be left in memory only and not revisited, but I am still curious if I still like it.

There's a third part?

Yep sure is, Curse of the Judas Chalice. I first saw it on one of the Sky movie channels a couple of years ago. Been looking on and off ever since as I have the first two on DVD but for some reason it never got released in the UK. Then I heard about a Blu-ray release in Australia in the Invelos forum and went to ezydvd and dvdcrave, I think they were the Aussie sites anyway, but they were no longer listed as being available. The other day I was looking for summat else on amazon UK and a recommendation appeared which reminded me about this and so I had a quick look and lo and behold there was a Blu Trilogy available via the marketplace. Still no UK release that I could see for part 3 in any format, these Blu's are Dutch.

Then again if you didn't like the first two all my ramblings above matter not  ;D

I was actually try to add the 3rd season of Scooby-Doo Where Are You! to my wish list..but I clicked the wrong button and didn't realize it until it was too late to stop the order.  At least it was only $12.99.  I'm still waiting to find a good price on the first two seasons.

Bought today:

Die Blechtrommel (Director's Cut) / The Tin Drum
Do you know what makes this "The Director's Cut"?

So far, I have no detailed informations about this director's cut. All I know is, that the duration of the film is about 20min. longer than previous releases. I never owned this on dvd or blu-ray. I've seen the movie a looong time ago in the German tv. I was quite happy to see this release on blue!  :D

Maybe these Informations can help a little bit (links):

- Reworked 'Tin Drum' screening at Cannes
- DIE BLECHTROMMEL (THE TIN DRUM) (here you can download a press-kit *.pdf file!)

Thanks Thorsten. I too remember watching Tin Drum on TV once or twice, which is why I asked.

The Press Kit was very informative. In short, the explanation seems to be that the distributor forced them to a shorter cut at the time. Some details about the extensions are given by Schlöndorff.

Today a total blind buy:

Percy Jackson - Diebe im Olymp

A little bit like Hercules meets Harry Potter. Nice film anyway!  :)

So far, I have no detailed informations about this director's cut.

Here the details of the director's cut (in German). This article came online today.
To summarize: When the director first made the movie, the studio told him to cut it down to a length of 2.5 hours maximum. Last year the director was contacted by the company which stored the original negatives if he wanted to extend the lease or if they should get rid of the negatives. He decided to take a look at the negatives and found them well-preserved. Only the sound was missing. He has gone back to the original screenplay and restore the original movie. For the missing sound the original actors were hired to redo them, which seems fits very well.
According to the article the movie benefits from the additional footage.
