Original? I was not aware of this...  :-[
Michael Haneke, director of the remake you watched, you bought, also directed the Made in Austria original. It has Susanne Lothar,   Ulrich Mühe and and Arno Frisch in it (the latter maybe known to you through Michael Haneke's Benny's Video...?). Most reviews I have read/heard say that the remake is inferior to its source. I have only seen the original and it was quite the experience.

I've tried to watch both versions, but couldn't get along with either one and turned them off.

I tried watching the original first and thought that the remake wouldn't be great but Tim Roth and Naomi Watts are ususally watchable.

It's a bit of a special case since Haneke did both the original and the remake. AFAIK, it is almost identical to the original, except for the language and the actors of course.

Thanks for the infos! This dvd was a total blind buy. I've only heard about Haneke, but so far I havn't seen any movie of him.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season Seven (Amazon.com)
I have been waiting to watch this new season, since I heard that the storyline for this season is for Larry David organizing a Seinfeld reunion.
