Topic: 100th Episode of Bones

I watched the 100th episode of Bones tonight.  I really liked most of it, but I'm ticked off with how it ended.  To get so close..and then that.  This is the crap that makes me stop watching shows.  I've already read some things about the episode and responses from viewers who loved everything about the episode.  There are probably more people that are happy than that are annoyed and ticked off like me, but this type of thing always irritates me.

Ok, so what really irritated me is the last few minutes.  The were done really well and everything, but how it all ended just ticked me off.  They finally admit they have feelings for each other.  Booth takes the first step by saying he wants them to try..he talks about how he has known since they met that she is THE ONE.  She still has her issues and says she isn't a gambler and can't change.  That may not seem like much, but it is huge for her.  She asks if they can still work together and he says yes..and then goes on about how he is going to move on and find someone else.  Like a minute after telling her that he wants to spend his life with her and that she is the one for him, he's given up on her because she isn't ready to say the say thing right that second.  To get them that close and then pull them apart again pisses me off.  I hate when shows do this crap, claiming they don't want to ruin things.  Well for me, having Booth get serious about someone else is going to ruin it for me.  This pisses me off more than what happened with Zac and more than Angela and Hodgins breaking up - and that just about made me stop watching.  It just feels like the writers are jerking the fans around when they do this stuff..like they did with Ross and Rachel in Friends..put them together and then rip them apart over and over.  That's why I stopped watching Friends for several years.

I really want Brennan and Booth to get together, I think they would make such a sweet onscreen couple and definately think it would add another aspect to the show instead of ruining it. I too am getting fed up with all the flirting and hallucinating/dreaming about being together without them actually getting together properly. It's so frustrating

I think what Booth was trying to say was "Bones, let's try us together but be also aware that I won't play this game much longer. Either you change your mind soon or I have to accept that this is the way it is and move on." He didn't say that iit'd be easy for him but I also can understand that he can't wait forever even if she's the one for him. If she doesn't feel that way there's ultimately no point for him to dwell on things that aren't going to happen.

So I saw it more as a warning shot towards her to respectfully make absolutely clear that he won't be on her leash forever.

Exactly...me too.  The writers and creators of shows say they can't put characters together because it will ruin the show..they all cite Moonlighting and the ultimate example of that.  That show did go down hill after Maddy and David got together, but they were barely together before the writer's ripped them back apart.  And there was other stuff going on behind the scenes that screwed with the show too.  Like Cybil Shepherd getting pregnant and being put on bed rest.  Just because it didn't work out that great on one show - that had other issues going on - doesn't mean it won't work on all shows.  Frankly, I think it is a cop out when writers say that.  I think it could work if it is handled well..and if the writers are talented enough.  The end of this episode was a huge let down.  I read where someone said the writers should get credit for being so bold as to go there - the discussion and all.  If it had worked out differently...even if she expressed doubts and asked for them to move forward really slow or something..then yes I would say they were being bold by delving into the relationship before the show is ending.  But with how it was handled, it accomplished nothing and wasn't bold.  It is just the writers building up so much anticipation and hope in the fans..and then nothing.  It is manipulative.  And it is ticking me off.

I get that Booth doesn't want to sit around waiting on her forever..but it just isn't right that he goes from saying she is the one to saying well I'm moving on now in a matter of a few minutes.  This is the first time they have acknowledged that there could be something between them, so it isn't right to expect her to immediately agree, especially given her issues with relationships..which he is aware of.  He has been so supportive and there for her in every other situation and given her time..and now, after a few minutes, he's given up.  That just doesn't fit the character with how things are set up.  I wouldn't have been so irked if the conversation had gone a little different - even if things were settled into them dating.  I also didn't like all the build up and then nothing.  I'm just irked.  And I'm still sticked about how the writers screwed up Angela and Hodgins.
