You might not be thanking her if you end up watching most of those! :tease:
Say the guy who had recommanded a fluffy sentimental kiddie movie... Can't say which one is better, Mac and Me or Pod People or ET? At least MAM is honest...

Oh just stop it! It may be sentimental, but Mac and Me? Bloody Mac and Me? Good grief. The moment in E.T. where the bikes take off is modern cinema at it's most uplifting and sublime.

So there. :tease:

Don't look like I will be getting that set after all... according to Amazon they are all P&S releases.

Can somebody please explain to me, how, in this day and age, they're still releasing these in P&S?  ::)

I haven't checked this release, but I have to say in the UK, we seem to have fully embraced widescreen. I rarely, if ever, see a P&S choice.

I believe that the Amazon listing is incorrect. In DVD Profiler it is listed as widescreen (though this could be wrong also).
The assigned child profiles are the same discs I have (Fever Pitch, Never Been Kissed), which are all widescreen (though the last one is non-anamorphic). I cannot verify Ever After, because I have the German release. Though I doubt this movie was released as Pan & Scan at all (though you never know with the US market, as there the P&S were really popular).

One thing I've noticed about Amazon listings is that if the disc is widescreen on one side and P&S on the other, they have a habit of listing it only as P&S.

I love Music & Lyrics.

I hate movies in p&s...bleck.  I try to always look to make sure, but a few times I've picked up something that has been full screen instead.  That really irritates me.

Jon I will give you one point about this. Even if I haven't like it as a kid (even at 12 years old I was not into this kind of stuff) this film is better than most of the kids movie that my nephews make me watch (Alvin and the chipmunk and the garfield movie are good exemple of this). But my niece had better taste, I can watch Futurama, The Simpson or American Dad with her and I'm certain she would dislike ET as much as I did...

I dislike those, too.  I once picked up a Christmas movie and later realized it was P&S...and I still haven't gotten around to watching that movie yet.  I'll have to try and catch it finally this year.

I don't follow your argument. I saw both E.T. and Mac and Me as a kid. I immediately saw M&M for what it was. A very cheap rip-off of the former. In later years, looking at clips of the thing, I just find it to be a bad joke. Poorly performed, silly, OTT, very sentimental(!) and terrible effects. I think it would actually cause me physical pain to try and watch it again...  :-[

I was talking of ET not Mac and me in my reply Jon. It isn't really clear in it since I don't mention the title and you name Mac and Me two times.

Of course Mac and Me is an hour publicity for McDonalds and not really a film

Which version do you prefer? The more clarified Director's Cut (some say simplified , haven't seen it yet), or the more confusing Theatrical Cut (which I found indeed not entirely clear, but some say that's half the fun)?
