The Greatest '70s Cop Shows
From Police Woman to Aaron Spelling classics like Charlie's Angels, Starsky and Hutch, S.W.A.T. and The Rookies, grab a seat and get ready to revisit all your favorite moments from the coolest crop of '70s cop shows. Digitally remastered on DVD for the first time ever, TV's sexiest adventures, high-octane car chases and thrilling shoot-outs have never looked better! This DVD collects five sought-after first episodes from the first seasons of these beloved action-packed hit series.

Starsky and Hutch:  Savage Sunday
Hoping to draw attention to their dismal conditions of their retirement home, a sweet senior-citizen couple hatches an unlikely plan: hiding a bomb in their car to blow up City Hall! When low-life criminals steal their car, the race is on – but will Starsky track down the ticking bomb in time to save the day?

My Thoughts:
Even though I have heard of the show before... this is the first time I have ever seen an episode. When I started this episode... the first thing that popped in my mind was that the blonde dude looked very familiar... but I couldn't place it. At least not till his name came on the screen... it was David Soul! Of course I know him very well... he is the star of one of my all-time favorite vampire movies (well... miniseries) the original Salem's Lot!

After watching this episode... I must say... I loved every second of it! There was a lot of great car chasing action... and there was a nice amount of comedy to keep it light-hearted. The episode was just plain entertaining. And I loved their car! It is a tomato-red 1975 Gran Torino with a wide white strip. And to top everything off... the first episode has a guest star of Suzanne Summers (Chrissy on Three's Company) as a go-go girl. What more could you ask for? I am planning on getting season 1 of this series on pay-day. Amazon has the first season for only $23.

Here is their car:

Roseanne: Season 4 (Disc 2)
For the Conner household, it was the year of Lanford Custom Cycles and Rodbell’s Luncheonette, Roseanne’s breast reduction and bingo addiction, Becky’s birth control, Dan’s bowling team, Darlene in black, a Las Vegas wedding and even an alien abduction. There’s an unforgettable Halloween, an outrageous Thanksgiving, one very surprising mall Santa, a Mother’s Day surprise and much more, all in this classic season of the comedy series that changed television forever.

Episodes:
7. Vegas
8. Vegas, Vegas
9. Stressed to Kill
10. Thanksgiving '91
11. Kansas City, Here We Come
12. Santa Claus

My Thoughts:
Felt in the mood for a sitcom today. And Roseanne can be a fun one. All the episodes on this disc are good... I definitely enjoyed them. I especially liked the 2 Holiday episodes. But then Roseanne has always been good for Holiday episodes... especially the Halloween episodes which I am looking forward to seeing again in October!

Medium: Season 4 (Discs 1-2)
Patricia Arquette stars as psychic Allison Dubois, the Phoenix wife and mother who struggles to make sense of her dreams. This season, Allison's world is turned upside down when her abilities are revealed to the public. Her boss, Manuel Devalos (Miguel Sandoval), is ousted from office, and detective Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt) won't return her calls.

But as she and husband Joe (Jake Weber) – also newly unemployed – struggle to survive and care for toddler Marie and eldest daughters Ariel (Sofia Vassilieva) and Bridgette (Maria Lark), Allison knows one thing - her dreams will never fail her! Relive all the thrills and chills of every episode of Medium™: The Fourth Season!

Episodes
1. And Then
2. But for the Grace of God
3. To Have and to Hold
4. Do You Hear What I Hear
5. Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble
6. Aftertaste
7. Burn Baby Burn (Part 1)
8. Burn Baby Burn (Part 2)

My Thoughts:
Now that I finished all I could do on my Grey's Anatomy Marathon... I thought it was about time to just get some odd discs out of the way. I have been a huge fan of this show since the pilot episode. I think Patricia Arquette is wonderful in the lead role. And I am enjoying the fourth season almost as much as I did the first couple seasons. The episodes on the first two discs is steadily strong... but I especially enjoyed the episode Aftertaste. not only is it a real good storyline... but it even deals a bit with the subject of cannibalism.

Night Court: Season 1 (Disc 1)
They all come out at night. That's when you'll meet the weirdos, wannabes, lecherous fiends, nutballs and strange-os – and those are just the people in charge of Criminal Court, Part II, State of New York.

"I like him. He's nuts," a defendant says about judge Harold T. Stone. Magician/comic Harry Anderson portrays Stone, a man with a joy-buzzer sense of courtroom decorum and a gleeful enthusiasm for velvet-voiced scat singer Mel Torme. John Larroquette and Richard Moll, who would team with Anderson through the show's 1984-1992 run of law and disorder, are among the cast of this 13-episode Debut Season presented on 2 discs with a Loaded Docket of Extras. Night Court: it's where they'll try anything!

EPISODES
1. All You Need Is Love
2. Santa Goes Downtown
3. The Former Harry Stone
4. Welcome Back, Momma
5. The Eye of the Beholder
6. Death Threat
7. Once in Love With Harry

My Thoughts:
Even though I remembered enjoying this series back in my teen years... I always put off buying this set for some reason. I guess I thought it wouldn't hold up. But when I saw this set at Big Lots for only $6 I just couldn't pass it up. And now I am really glad I grabbed it. I really forgot just how much I enjoyed this series. Sure... Markie Post isn't in these early episodes (Not until season 3 I believe)... and they are the episodes I remembered the most. But you know... I found the series is very funny... even in the early seasons before her joining the cast. I am now half way done with the rather short first season... I hope to be able to get season 2 soon. And with any luck season 3 on will be released.

I have the second season.  I haven't started watching it yet, but from what I can tell from the little booklet thing with the set, Markie Post will turn up in the second season.  Also, from what I have found it, there were several years between the release of the first season and the second season.  Which stinks.

I remember Night Court to be a very entertainment "time killer" which I occasionally watched. It's the kind of show without stand-out moments but always consistently funny (nothing new, really, but what's there is delivered well).

However, I have never seen the original version, I believe, only the dubbed German ones.

Yeah... I know. I was reading some reviews of the set (I believe at Amazon) and it was mentioned there that she did appear in 1 episode of season 2... but she didn't join the cast as a regular until season 3. I also know about the LONG time between season 1 and 2... hopefully we will still see season 3 before too long. Though I am doubtful.

Markie Post appeared first in episode 2x02 but she couldn't get out of her Fall Guy contract. She became a regular with 3x01.

13. A Cure for What Ails You
14. Car Trouble
15. Being Joey Carmichael
16. Drowned World

My Thoughts:
This completes the 4th season set. Which I really wanted to do before the start of my month long horror marathon. Even though this is a short season... I really liked the storylines. Especially the storylines that had Allison working for Cynthia Keener (Anjelica Huston).

As I said in the other thread... While I was at Hospice with my mother I sat up and kept her company while she was up and watched DVDs while she slept. Unfortunately that gave me a lot of time to watch DVDs.

I ended up watching...

Disc 2 of Night Court: Season 1 which completed that set. I actually enjoyed watching this disc. It did a good job of taking my mind off things... and surprisingly actually made me laugh out loud more then once yesterday.

Then I watched the pilot episode of The War at Home. This is another sitcom. Going by the pilot episode only... this is an ok sitcom... but it didn't strike me as anything special.

I also watched about 2 discs (8 episodes) of season 3 of CSI. I am still loving every minute of this series.

CSI: Season 3 (Disc 3)
In this highly successful TV series, Detective Gil Grissom (William Petersen) leads the Las Vegas Police Department's night shift Crime Scene Investigations Unit, one of the top-ranked crime labs in the country. Grissom, along with his partner Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), takes on a series of cases which would be untouchable by other labs, in a city with a constant influx of visitors and a series of increasingly baffling crimes. This 6-volume set includes all 23 episodes from the third season.

Episodes:
9. Blood Lust
10. High and Low
11. Recipe for Murder
12. Got Murder?

My Thoughts:
Another disc of some really good episodes. I enjoyed every one of them. One this disc I especially enjoyed Blood Lust... besides the main case I like how they worked in the cab driver getting beaten to death from a mob because they mistakenly thought he was fleeing the scene of an accident. All based on the fact that he was a foreigner. And I also really enjoyed Recipe for Murder... but how couldn't you enjoy finding a person that was being put through a meat grinder? :P

Since I last posted here I watched discs 4 & 5 of CSI: Season 3... and I am thinking of watching the final 3 episodes of this set later today.

I am still very much enjoying this series.

Decided to watch a few Halloween episodes today... So I ended up watching...

The Big Bang Theory: The Middle Earth Paradigm (Season 1)
Leonard discovers "hobbit" is the wrong costume to wear to Penny's Halloween party when her ex-boyfriend shows up. Also, Sheldon is not a zebra.

This must be the 4th or 5th time I watched this episode now. And it is still just as funny this time around.

Bones: Mummy in the Maze (Season 3)
With Halloween rapidly approaching, the mummified remains of two young girls lead the team through a twisted maze of creepy clues.

One of my favorite episodes of Bones. And OK... I admit it... I definitely enjoy seeing Brennen in the Wonder Woman costume.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Halloween (Season 2)
Someone from Giles' past wreaks havoc on Halloween, causing Buffy and the gang to be transformed into their costumes.

This is the very first Halloween episode the series had. I don't know if I would say it is my favorite one... but I definitely enjoyed it.

Charmed: All Halliwell's Eve (Season 3)
The Halliwell sisters travel back to the 1600s to protect a coven in danger of extinction and save their own future.

You all knew I had to watch this one! I have seen this episode countless times... and still enjoy it very much.

How I Met Your Mother: Slutty Pumpkin (Season 1)
Halloween hijinx are afoot as Ted makes his annual trek to the same lame party in search of a girl he met there years ago, while Robin joins Marshall and Lily for a double date.

This is a show that I bought blind when I found the first season set cheap. I really enjoyed the show... but for some reason never bothered to get more seasons yet. This episode was pretty good... had some cool costumes.. and the story of the Slutty Pumpkin was fun.
