Time for a little Blast from the Past. This thread will be for my reviews of movies made in the '80s.  No matter the Genre, no matter if it was theatrically released or a TV Movie. Just as long as the movie was made in the '80s

When doing these Marathons I like to add a cartoon from the same decade between the movies. Unfortunately in this case IU have a load of movies from the '80s... but only a few sets of cartoons from the '80s! So I am hoping to fix that problem within my next few DVD orders. IF YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CARTOON FROM THE '80S I AM TAKING RECOMENDATIONS! But as I said... I do have a few sets here (or coming soon) that I will be able to use...

I use to watch the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. I may have to get that one.

What about The Smurfs?  For some reason I thought you had one of those.  I must be imagining things again.

I just realized I missed several boxsets while looking for moves from the '80s. And I found out that I missed 13 movies in the above list. I fixed the list... and now have 206 movies to choose from!

Thanks for the suggestion... will try to fit it in this weekend (Britt is going away this weekend). Probably not one I wouyld have thought of buying... but it was in one of those cheap 10 movie boxsets that I have.

My Thoughts:
Since I recently watched Superman II... I thought I would start this marathon out with Superman III. I know a lot of people that don't like this movie what with the way they went with comedy for the movie. But I must say... I kind of enjoyed that for a change. Don't get me wrong... I enjoyed the first two more... but I thought it made for a nice change. And I like Richard Pryor... so that helped me too. And I don't think I would want to see another comedic look at Superman. I also enjoyed Anette O'Toole as Lana Lang in this movie. She of course went on to play Martha Kent in the TV Series Smallville. I also thought the whole Superman vs. Clark Kent fight was cool.

I know Jimmy... you don't agree with the above... oh well... too bad!  I see I already have 2 review up for it here... you can replace both of them with this one since it is much more detailed.

I just checked in DVD Profiler... I can't remember if I did the profile for it myself or someone else... but it lists as 1:28.

  Didn't like 4 much at all. Though I do own it... and may not be able to stop myself from watching it soon since I watched the first 3... I been on a Superman kick here lately for some reason.

Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show is an American  animated television series about a team of superheroes  which ran from 1984 to 1985 on ABC. It was produced by Hanna-Barbera and is based on the Justice League and associated comic book characters published by DC Comics.

The Bride of Darkseid (Part 1)
Season 1 - Episode 1
Firestorm makes his debut as a superhero and is invited to join the Super Friends. Darkseid pursues Wonder Woman to be his and is able to capture her when Firestorm accidentally shuts off the Hall of Justice's force field.

My Thoughts:
This was one of my favorite shows when I was young... all the variations of the Super Friends... but this one in particular as I always liked the character of Firestorm. And I still do... even though I am not quite sure why... because they really did make him too powerful. It was like he was the answer to most any problem they had. But even with that... he was always a favorite character of mine. And this pilot episode introduces him showing us what he can do (go through solid objects... change molecular structure of inanimate objects) and how he got his powers. All these years later I still enjoy this show a lot. The pilot is a 2 part episode... so I need to watch me another '80s movie soon so I can get to part 2!

I'm afraid to ask what you thought of Superman 4: The Quest for Peace.

The fourth one is better, Superman 3 isn't a Superman movie but a Richard Pryor movie. Of course Superman 4 isn't really good, and I'm very generous on this.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I haven't seen in years. So many years in fact that I couldn't remember too much about it at all. I do however remember seeing this movie as a teenager. I was lucky that my mother was cool enough that she didn't worry much about what I was watching. If I came home with a bag full of movies from the video rentals... she would ask me what I got. And if I said some horror... she would say "Yuck... you are on your own with those... get me any Karate or War movies?" The movie is much shorter then I was expecting it to be... running at only an hour and 16 minutes. It has some decent killings in this one... and there is a nice amount of T&A for your viewing pleasure. Along with the names mentioned above there is a brief early appearance by Brinke Stevens. Over all I would say it is a good horror movie. I did enjoy it... I guess I would say it is good for what it is... as long as you don't go into it expecting a masterpiece I think you should enjoy it.  But it could have been better. Maybe flesh out the story some more. Possibly give the movie a little more length. But of course at the same time that could possibly make the movie worse as well.

That is true about the third one being a Richard Pryor movie.  And the one villain guy - I can't remember his name now - was just a Lex knock off.  The 4th movies sucks.
