...Ok so, ive just bought the first two seasons of House, Ive finished season 1 but I don't understand something...

It doesn't seem to have any character development... maybe that's the wrong term... what I mean is, there seems to be barley any order to the episodes like... I could watch them in any order and it would make sense... I feel as thought I barely know the characters... even House himself.

Don't get me wrong, im really enjoying it... Does this change as the seasons go on?

Also, is it just me or has sombody had a seizure in every episode of season 1  It was like they ran out of ideas "Stick a seizure in"

Ok... so hear is the problem... I don't know what I like about the series 0_0

...Im not sure I even know what im talking about right now... its like when I watched Unbreakable.... nothing happened yet I was in some sort of trance and had to watch the entire movie...

...So what I think im trying to say is... Nothing seems to be happening, I don't understand how there can be 6 seasons, but im really enjoying it so far

...Do you know what I mean?

The character development is minimal. There's some but not that much. After 3, 4, 5 years the characters have changed but I wouldn't say that they are that different from the persons they were in year 1.

That's one of the things that makes the show re-watchable IMO. So many shows are part of an ongoing story line. It makes it hard to enjoy an episode or two at a time taken out of context. Sure, they are great but you have to watch an entire season to really enjoy it.

I know that is one reason the Law and Order franchise has done so well over the years. You don't need to know anything about anybody to enjoy an episode (also a reason it does well in  the ratings when they show a repeat episode). Just turn it on and enjoy it for the next 45 minutes or so.

There is something to be said for a series like House where you can just watch an episode and it will stand all by itself.

FWIW House's character shows some development, but he's about it. I guess in all fairness there is some development with some of the relationships as well. House and Wilson especially come to mind. If you even remotely likes S1 I would suggest you keep watching. Just remember, it's never Lupus!

Warning: Slight spoilers but I try to remain vague.

There have been some arcs but especially in the earlier seasons they didn't mean much.

That arc seemed to go on forever. Now, when one of those shows happens to be on I usually turn the channel (I sometimes watch the re-runs on one of the cable channels here). With that arc it seemed to take over the story as compared to just being in the background.

Last night was a new episode. Very un-House-like. No case even. It was strange but also had some really entertaining parts.

I agree with Rick, I think most of the reason the show is so watchable is that it pretty much has a "medical mystery of the week" type format, and each episode is mostly self-contained. It means that you don't have to be in the mood to concentrate everytime you start watching a season, and you can watch any episode you fancy without having to think back to the overlying story arc.

I so completely agree. I've seen the first four seasons and wrote a pretty much non-spoilery review here. Upon rewatching them a while ago (except for S3 due to the mentioned annoyance), I was a little less enthusiastic, but it did hold up rather well, especially S4. The funny thing is that it is a type of show I usually wouldn't bother to watch, but House has proven itself to be the exception.

I hope I get used to it, im just so used to having a back story for people, it annoys me when it looks like they are going to reveal something about someone and they don't!... I think some episodes end rather abruptly to.

I hate that! I just finished watching Will and Grace S7, and I really want to buy S8 but I've already spent loads on DVDs this pay..even though it wont break the bank, I'm trying to discpline myself (and pay off my overdraft :P)

And I totally agree with loving House there's something very distinguished about him ;) I also have a thing for Gibbs from NCIS, which my ex bf used to slag me rotten for  :hysterical:
