I see. I actually don't know much about it I was only going by what I was told by a Computer guy I showed the photo to. He said something about PC cases being designed to keep the computer cool and that the wall one wouldn't be as affective as the air-flow would be changed.

Yupp,
that's what I keep saying my customers too.
It's just that it's not the full truth, there's a very big when:
a) the components are not covered in dust
b) the fans can freely transport the air and don't have to suck (or press) it through inches of dust first
c) the cables are mounted correctly and are kept out of the specified air-flow
d) the fans are correctly dimensioned and placed according to the ATX specs and requirements for the mounted components

The main-reason for using cases is that the components are not lying around somewhere where your cats would play with them.
But seriously: A PC case is not necessarily needed, they are to be preferred to unsuitable housings like shoe-cartons so.

If that were a true Wii cabinet it would have motion sensing doors.

I can't agree...  :headscratch: Some years ago I was building hundreds of PCs for a particular contract and the customer required a customised boot image on otherwise pre-installed Windows. I took the sides off of an ATX cage to get at an IDE cable and sort-of hot swapped each hard drive onto the slave channel, ran the floppy disk that transferred the image and connected the next one.

After about 20 minutes the PC overheated. Eventually I had a couple of desk fans pointing into the open case which helped.

An ATX case pulls in cool air and pushes out hot between the fans. Left open, I really wouldn't trust it without water cooling.  :hmmmm:

The problem might have been the "some years ago".
Some years ago the general direction of CPU and GPU fans was to pull the warm air from the cooler. Which is a good idea if you are working with a closed cage, nowadays the cages have more holes than a swiss cheese and fresh air (sadly dust too) comes in from everywhere. In these environments it makes more sense to push fresh cool air on the heatsink. This works even better the more fresh air is available (no cage), because the warmth is simply blown away and it takes significantly longer to warm a room of 30 m³ than it takes to heat up a room of 0,03 m³. Problems may arise from HighSpeed HDDs (10.000 rpm) and HighSpeed RAMs (if not placed in the airstream of the CPU fan), a simple passive cooling via heat spreader might not always suffice here. Active HDD and RAM cooling is to be preferred in this cases. This active cooling can be achieved by additional fans or water cooling. Admittedly the water cooling looks much better (especially if lighted).

Natalie Portman in a film with archery? Seeing this image today felt like someone had given me an early birthday present. I don't know anything about this film but I do know that I will be seeing it because of this image alone.

I actually just watched the trailer and saw the scene from the photos in that link.

But yeah, sexy. I'll be there. Zooey Deschanel is in it too. I don't even care that the film looks crap, I will see it for both of them.

 :o

You honestly don't know her? She is amazing! She used to be in loads of little indie films before she became big. She was known as like the Indie film girl. In High School my best friend and I set out to watch every single thing she had ever been in, including all of her films, tv appearances and even an episode of The Simpsons that she did a voice in.... yeah, we had a lot of time on our hands.

Zooey

Oh I've seen her before. She looks like Katy Perry but far prettier. I've only seen her in The Happening.
So was known as like the Indie film girl. Sounds like Parker Posey, she was know as the queen of Indie in her day.
