Topic: Captain America Movie News

It looks like the super-hero movies aren't stopping anytime soon.  We've got new movies planned coming up for Green Lantern, Spider-Man, Iron Man, probably Batman...and Captain America.  I found a website with some news on the Cap movie which you can check out here:

If you go there, you can find links for other news items as well as people giving their thoughts on the film.  As you can see in the link, the Captain America movie is to begin filming in June.  The director is Joe Johnston, listed as the director for The Wolfman which is just coming out.  No casting has been announced yet.  The film is said to be taking place during World War 2 and has a projected release date of July 2011.  I still find it odd that the title of the film is The First Avenger: Captain America...since Cap didn't show up until The Avengers #4.  In the first issue, the group consisted of Ant-Man (who soon became Giant-Man), The Wasp, Thor, Iron Man and...The Hulk?  Yes, but he quit in the second issue...

It is strange... but I think they are just going for the most popular members... which is strange... The Avengers movie must be coming out soon then :p

I just read a small update on the film.  The director says he wants the lead to be cast by March 1.  He says that he will definitely hire an American actor for the lead but that he's leaning towards an unknown...I guess he can cast a big name to play the villain.  Maybe Arnold Schqarzenegger as The Red Skull?  Maybe not.  The film is said to be shot in HD.  And it will be shot in the UK.

I also read that there'll be a new Daredevil movie...what they call a reboot.  This means forget the first Daredevil movie ever existed (kind of what they did in Batman Begins).  Unfortunately, they have hired the screenwriter of The Day The Earth Stood Still so that seems like not such a great opening move.  I wonder if they'll get a costume closer to the comic book version this time?

Good they had decided to hire an unknown and they must do the same for the bad guy (no TV actors of the week please). I want to see a serious Captain America, not some stupid shit like Fantastic four or Spider-Man made for the kids.

The Daredevil reboot is one of the stupidest thing I've ever read, Daredevil is one of the few comic book character movie that was done like they are supposed to be done in the recent years. Of course I talk about the director cut of the film and not the theater released version.

Why not an Iron Man reboot while they are at it

Eh? Daredevil was terrible. I thought Affleck was ok, but Johnson couldn't direct traffic. Awful plot too.

Chris Evans possible Steve Rogers.
In the article Channing Tatum is mentioned as someone who had auditioned for the role. I could see that working.

Evans isn't a bad choice, but isn't he a little short for a storm trooper Captain America?

It is official. Johnny Storm is now Chris Rogers. Not sure if that's a good thing, a bad thing or if it really matters. If the movie is good I really don't care who the actor is in this case.

I like superhero movies in general so I am hopeful this will turn out good
