I am sitting here trying to decide on a decent movie marathon to do for June. The only idea I have so far... which I haven't thought out completely. At least here in the states June is when kids get out of school for summertime break. So I was thinking maybe some sort of
Summertime Fun Marathon
.
Anyone here have any other ideas... or can help me iron out some good details for a Summertime Fun Marathon?
Another idea... maybe a
Too Cool for School Marathon
(name stolen from one of the DVD sets I have) :p And maybe watch a bunch of High School/College kids comedies?

Hmmm... Summer time kids just want to party... how about a marathon of movies where kids let loose for a good time. I am sure there must be enough in my collection for a marathon like that?

One last idea... and if I have enough I think I like this idea... not sure what I would call it yet... but Beach movies. Between some of the teen comedies, surfing and skin diving movies I think I would have enough to do something like this.

I find myself doing mostly director-centered marathons for some time now with the occasional break for more random movie choices. In fact, I have so much stuff lined up that it will probably last me until the end of the year.

I think any of your ideas could work.
I don't know that I have any beach movies. Hmmm..now I'll have to look.

I cannot really help you with those ideas. I don't think my collection wouldf get me very far on any of these... Did you check now, does yours...?

Well, Eric Rohmer has made quite a few "beach movies", but I doubt those would be Pete's thing. Then there is the terrific HBO series
John from Cincinnati
... yeah, I'm not sure I'm really helping here either.

Well, maybe Surf Nazis Must Die can be considered a beach movie, then this could become interesting again
(click to show/hide)
I don't own it myself, but the title popped into my head when I read Matthias' post.

That seems to be part of the problem... how many movies I got to watch for the marathon. I really need to go through my collection and see what can be worked out. I am thinking maybe a
Summertime Fun Marathon
... that way the movie don't necessarily have to be a beach movie. Maybe I will have enough movies that way.

According to our "stickies" we had our last common marathon in December.
Should we do another one before Pete and the others do their October marathon? I usually do not participate in that one, because I hardly watch horror.

I could be up for attempting something... though I haven't been much in the mood for movies lately. But I would probably give it a try anyway.

Then I have all 5 seasons of Alias... Life on Mars (if you are talking the US version)... Mercy and Invasion.

I'll be going to Germany soon, so I don't think I'd be able to join.

For a November marathon it's probably too late. Also I have the last season of Smallville on the way, which I want to watch next.
But will we do our traditional Christmas marathon again this December?
