Ah, heck and dammit all!  :surrender:

I was determined to halve my budget this year. I'll end up not buying anything at all in Feb, march and April if I succumb!  Which I probably will... :bag:

If you've had an inkling about buying some Akira Kurosawa, now's the time.

$219.97 for that mega-set is a steal!

I looked at that too! I have a fair few, but for newbies that is an excellent price.

Guess this sale may cause my first purchase of 2010... Thanks for finding it. (Anyone check yet if it holds up against Amazon prices...?)

EDIT:
I checked the few I am interested in and found that apparently older releases are a few dollars cheaper than at Amazon but the more recent releases are merely 2c cheaper!

Also obvious is the great support of Criterion for Blu-ray, making their discs same price to DVD.

Wish they were region free though. :(

I know they did a free exchange offer too, where you could swap your DVDs for blu.

I believe most of the older ones actually are, no...? That's what I remember, but I could be wrong.

But for Blu-ray they use coding, I am fairly certain.

Sorry, yes, I did mean Blu for region coding. The DVDs are generally R0. I need a cheap multi-region Blu-Ray player... :surrender:

Are there even expensive ones yet?

I use my PS3 so far, so no hope for my player being modified...

It looks great on Blu! I watched the first ten minutes once and then had to stop because the friend I was watching with was falling asleep (not because of the film). Another problem for him was that they speak rather fast and therefore the subtitles seemed to fly by...

Just added Forbidden Games (1952)

The best thing Criterion ever came up with is the Essential Art House series.
