Apparently one name being bandied about with a little more weight than Pattison or Cera (still say that stories complete bull in any case) is Zac Efron. Empire took it and ran with it and have picked a list of could-be's... Empire 10 Actors for Spider-Man

Why not Jason Earles or Dylan Sprouse or Josh Peck?

I'm sure Brittany and maybe Sophie know who are those guys.

Don't be sorry it means that you are too old, but since you're 19 years old it was a possibility.

Out of that list the only one I'd put my money on is number 10 - Josh Hutcherson. The rest of them are to freaking old, Jake Gyllenhaal give me a frakking break.

Another suggestion; Cameron Bright

I still say that it need to be a younger actor, under 20.

If it was an age thing then that's probably why. I don't really keep up with all those newfangled crazes that the kids go through these days  :P.

Josh Peck wouldn't be a good choice Jimmy ;P I don't think he would fit well!

I can honestly say I can't see any of those guys as Spider-Man.  Of course I wasn't sure about Heath Ledger as Joker either...but for what they want to do with the reboot that I've read so far, those guys are too old.

I think Efron, Yelchin, Hutcherson and Radcliffe look (almost) young enough. Although, since they want to send Peter to high school, it's probably indeed be best to get someone who is under 20...

Hmm... not sure, considering most of the Buffy cast were almost 30 in season one.

It wasn't that bad. ;)

Buffy Cast Season 1 (supposed to be High School Sophomore):

Buffy: 20
Willow: 23
Xander: 26
Cordelia: 27

Smallville Cast Season 1 (supposed to be High School Freshmen):

Clark: 24
Lana: 19
Chloe: 19
Pete: 18

When I checked this link out, I thought of something.

I don't remember this much "woe is me" sentiment when the Batman reboot was announced.

Tim Burton brought us Batman in 1989 with the series culminating with a third actor as Bats in Batman & Robin <snigger> in 1997.
Christopher Nolan then gave us Batman Begins in 2005.

So by my calculations, 8 years later a re-envisioning of Gothams dark knight was released to great acclaim.
A Spider-man reboot is mentioned and suddenly reboots are evil.

I've never been involved in film production but I can't see the reboot hitting screens until 2013.
Let's face it there's going to be the search for a director (I vote for Rob Zombie), then there's going to be the global search for Peter and the rest of the cast.
Don't forget that the script is going to have to be rewritten several times, thus delaying filming even more.
