Spider-Man 4 News
« on: January 12, 2010, 01:20:36 AM »
I just found this and thought I would share.

It seems that Raimi dropped out because he said he couldn't make the release date the studio wanted.  So Sony is going to reboot the series instead of getting a new director.
I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Oh dear! After Spidey 3 though, I'd lost a little faith. Then you have Raimi getting his mojo back during Drag Me To Hell (which I've just happened to finish watching again, literally just this minute!) and maybe putting his foot down a little more.

:/ aww man, that sucks. Although... part of me thinks this may be something to do with Disney too?

if Sony reboot now, Disney can't reboot for a while... the same reason they want to reboot the Fantastic Four?

I haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet, and I can't even remember if I liked 2 or not, it's been so long since I saw it. Can't say I'm overly excited about this one, it's just one of those franchises I have not alot of interest in.

Do yourself a favour and don't bother with Spider-man 3.

I am really liking the idea of a reboot, especially if (fingers crossed) they do do it properly with Peter as a high school teenager, forward planning and all but get the right 15/16 year old and then you can do a decent franchise of 7or8 (Harry Potter anyone?) films that can tick all of the important boxes from Spideys history.

I have never made any secret of my thoughts that three of the key people of the three Spidey films were not the ideal choices. Sam Raimi, Tobey Macguire & Kirsten Dunst have never sat right with me.

I agree they could make some really big changes with this reboot.

I don't know who would make a good Spidey :S I can't think of any actors, but then who knew Robert Downey Jr would make such an amazing Tony Stark?

There are alot of story arcs they could hit.... and I think they should stick to anything pre 00's

The Death of Gwen (kind of tackled)
Venom (tackled, could have been better)
Green Goblin (also tackled, was good maybe they could improve?)
Maximum Carnage
Clone Wars?
Death of a goblin? (don't count the goblin out just yet)

Id also like to see the lizard, he was always my favourite villain in the spidy series.

A Spider-man reboot sounds good to me, I hope they do it well

They kinda touched on The Lizard a little in the third one with introducing the one armed Dr Conners. I always thought that The Lizard was Spideys most personal nemesis.

There is no question about it. The next on-screen drooling Symbiote is going to rock like a melon farmer.
Venom is such bad ass and cool character that I can't believe it's not butter or how much Raimi humped the pooch on that one.

There was a lot of executive meddling involved in making the third part which made Raimi very unhappy. Maybe that's the reason he doesn't make a fourth part.

One worrying comment I heard, possibly on Empire is that Sony might be interested in making it 3D. The bandwagon could be about to pull onto a main road!  :slaphead:

Maybe a 3D Spider-man could work but purely as a gimmick. Id like to see a clever reboot

Seen the first 2, didn't like the second so didn't care for the third one. But it sure make laugh to see your entousiasm for a reboot (or your fanboy reactions)...

Seriously the first one was made 7 years ago
Why not someone new? Captain America, The Avengers, Thor, even an Archie film would be better than that ::)
