Topic: Green Lantern Movie Possibly In Works

I happened to go to a site I hadn't been to in a year or two which is one that does news on comic books and comic-related movies and TV shows and such and I see a Green Lantern movie is in the works.  This is possibly the most important super-hero DC Comics has that has never been made into a live-action production though he's surfaced in animated form a couple of times.

http://blog.newsarama.com/2010/01/08/lively-is-lanterns-leading-lady/ is a link to one story about this movie where they list the leading lady to play Carol Ferris...I think her name is Blake Lively (not sure of the first name) who appears on Gossip Girl.  Green Lantern himself will be played by Ryan Reynolds and the film is to be directed by Martin Campbell.  Among the rumors I read were that the movie is to be budgeted at $150 million, be shot in New Orleans (after plans to shoot in Australia were dropped) and that the movie could actually start shooting as soon as 10 weeks from now.  I repeat, though, that these last factors are just rumors for now.   And the movie isn't scheduled to be released until next year at any rate.

I've heard some about this movie before too.  I know it is getting made and that Ryan Reynolds has been cast for sure.  I did read about Blake Lively in connection with the movie too.

...And they mention that the green light was given last Thursday. You might as well book your seat! 

Spidey 4 meanwhile has had one rumour confirmed. John Malkovitch was asked if he would be playing The Vulture and he said he's waiting on the script. So while it is delayed, that proves it was going in that direction at least.

Jon I also hear that Clive Owen is rumoured to play Kraven the Hunter in Spider-man 4 :p

I read about Ryan Reynolds in Total Film I think, I think its surprising they picked him considering he has already played Daredevil, do we know what Green Lantern he will play? Hal Jordan? Kyle Rayner?

When did Ryan Reynolds play Daredevil?  I thought only Ben Affleck was DD.  I believe this is to be the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern.  I may be wrong but I'm thinking Ryan Reynolds had also signed to play The Flash in a movie...but that was a couple years ago.  I guess the movie's either been canceled or delayed.

I don't remember Ryan Reynolds as DareDevil either. But I will be looking forward to this one.

They are going with the Hal Jordan incarnation of Green Lantern.

Confirmation of this came out a similar time to the announcement of a Deadpool film.

Well, Hal is a good character, but id like to see Guy Gardner and John Stewart around... or even Ganthet, ch'p and G'nort

...Id also like to see Sinestro pre his villain days?... or even an Anti-Moniter

...I hope there is none of this blackest night crap that's going on at the moment.... I really don't like that story

Green Lantern is one of those characters I can't see working, there are too many of them and most kids think John Stewart because of the Justice League series.

Thats a good point... but didn't the Justice League meet the other lanterns in the series? I wasn't a big viewer of that one so I can't rememeber

As I recall, when Green Lantern debuted back in the Silver Age (not counting the GL of the 1940s who was quite a bit different), they took awhile before they started introducing all the other Green Lanterns. They may not want to have a whole army of GLs in a movie.  Special effects for one hero may be tough enough.

Yeah, I can see why they would only use one, but wasn't the original Green Lantern Alan Scott?

I think it would be nise to see Sinestro cross over in the movie.
