Being Human
« on: January 04, 2010, 04:53:49 PM »
I was told on more then one occasion I should check out the series Being Human. Well since I do not have a multi-region player I found and downloaded the first season from online.

It came in a zip file that included...
- 1.00 Pilot
- Episode 1
- Episode 2
- Episode 3
- Episode 4
- Episode 5
- Episode 6

I know that a lot of the UK series are short. So I am guessing that the above is indeed the entire first season? Also I didn't see anything on a second season available for download yet. Has the second season started yet? or is there even going to be a second season?

I am hoping to be able to start watching this series a little later today. Will be sure to let you know what I think here in the thread.

Great to know a second season is on the way.  Wonder how long it will take BBC America to air it.  I don't typically watch that channel, so I don't know if they air over here right away or after a long period of time.  I know the first season was towards the end of summer last year.

Well... I watched the first episode. So far I like what I seen. I think they did the werewolf good. And I like the girl that is the ghost. Not so sure what I think of the guy that is the vampire. Like most they play with the vampire legend some.  I see this one that he can be out during the day... even if he doesn't really like the day light... it don't seem to harm him. And I seen him drinking if not eating... so he can at least drink other things then blood.

Anyway I am looking forward to checking out the next episode. But first I told Britt I would watch a couple episodes of Spectacular  Spider-Man with her. From there we will see what I pick to watch next.

Is that the pilot you watched, Pete? Because they changed the cast and possibly some other points for the series proper.

Do you know this Vampire Characteristics Chart?

yeah... that was the pilot I watched... listed in the zip as [/i]1.00 - Pilot[/i]. I hope they didn't change the girl that played the ghost. I liked her on it.

Yes, they changed her. But the new one is pretty cool, too.

Afraid to tell you that the only retained cast member was Russell Tovey as the werewolf. Now it's all personal taste of course, and I didn't see the pilot properly, but I do like Lenora Crichlow as the ghost. Check out the Wikipedia page for info and pics...  ;)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being_Human_%28TV_series%29

Oh yeah, and that chart needs Duckula on it! Actually, Pete, have you ever seen Count Duckula? Marvellous stuff!

edit: just missed Karsten's post, but I think Lenora deserves a chorus...

I had seen one episode via "grey channels". I'm not sure anymore, but I think it was the first pilot episode. I didn't like it all that much.
But now I am curious to watch the series, but as I have seen, the DVDs and Blu-rays of Series 1 do not include the first pilot. And as a completist this is just a big no-no for me. Maybe a later release will include it. I can wait.

Thanks Jon... I can't wait to check her (Lenora Crichlow) out on the series. Going by the picture alone... very nice :)

I see that this series is fairly cheap but not available on R1... is the R2 set region free by chance?

According to the contribution notes sadly no.
