Repeat Viewings Of Same Film In Cinema
« on: January 03, 2010, 12:45:28 PM »
I just found out that I might be seeing Avatar for the third time tommorow and it got me wondering whether many people see the same film in the cinema more than once or not?
I don't do it to often but the most times I've seen the same film was WALL-E and I saw it four times at the cinema.

Not really. I did see Terminator 2 twice, but that was the only one, unless you count Return of the Jedi which I saw on its first release and the special edition in the 90s...  ;)

I had done it for "Star Trek: First Contact" and "South Park". Never really on purpose. It just came about. Of the top of my head I don't remember another movie I have seen twice in the cinema.

I think the cinema charges quite alot and so would much rather buy a film on DVD then go and see it more then once, I saw Harry Potter (the first one) twice, Once for my cousins birthday, then our school English class took us.

I only really visit the cinema on an "Orange Wednesday" when the tickets are buy one get one free... or half price if you are me and my friends :p

Wow I wish my cinema did that. We don't have a buy one get one free but they do lower the prices every Tuesday. I don't remember what the cinema actually calls it but everyone just refers to it as 'tight ass Tuesday'.

This is often the case with my as well, the only reason I am seeing Avatar tommorow is becuase my sister is back in town for a short time and she wants to see it. I also saw it on Friday just becuase my Grandfather wanted someone to see it with. Although I do admit that I do often go for a repeat viewing of a film in the cinema that I love, just usually not more than twice.

The only film I remember seeing two or even three times at the cinema is Pulp Fiction.

Oh, and of course The Dark Knight. Twice at the IMAX!

There might be one or two others, but I don't remember them right now. :bag:

What I am saying: not a usual thing for me to go repeatedly. If I liked a film a lot I will buy the DVD/Blu-ray later.

The one I saw the most was the original Star Wars. I don't remember exactly how many but I kept taking people - maybe a half a dozen times.

The Shining I saw three or four times - again I wanted to share it.

Lord of the Rings - twice.

I know there were others but most of those were decades ago and I can't remember which ones. I'm not having a senior moment...I'm having an Achim moment!

I've never done it. Movie theaters are such a rip-off that I can't bring my self to spend again for a film.

My record for most viewings in a theater of one movie was Christopher Reeve's first Superman movie.  Believe it or not, I saw that 11 times there!  I was crazy in those days.  Of course, that was during my comic book reading prime and Superman was my favorite character so I felt close to the source material.  Thre are other films I see several times but no movie nearly that often.  I think I saw Star Wars five times and I know I saw Jurassic Park a couple of times.  The last m ovie I saw more than once was Fantastic 4 and I saw that just twice.

As he say ;D
Going in a movie theater is just annoying... paying 15$ to be badly sitted, listen 30 minutes of publicity before the movie and always had people talking or walking in front oy you is just not my thing... I can do the same for less if I invite a couple of my friends to watch a movie at my home (at least the movie will be good, the popcorn will be better and we will drink beer).

I have not set a foot in a theater for more than 5 years and I'm perfectly happy with this. Anyway why would I be interested in the movies shown

Back when I was young it was only a couple of dollars to get into the movies. And drive-ins were only a few dollars and you got to see 3 movies!

Edit: I had to include the old lady in the rocking chair because I sound like my grandpa!

I've done it a few times when I went with two groups of people in different cities, or when I watched the movie again with the original audiotrack.

Happens rarely though.
