I found it to be a fairly gentle film that didn't go into the cliches of a lot of other teen romcoms.

I've heard good things about this too, Pete, but... well... I haven't seen it, so I can't be sure... but "playlist"?

The plot seems centred around people who play music and like music, without it being a musical, so they your kind of people, Pete?

Well, it's Pete's thread, so I claim that one reason is that he doesn't like reading subtitles hence Rohmer seemed out of the question.

I heard of him, but to my knowledge haven't seen any of his films. They were quite popular in the 80s in Germany, though.

I guess I didn't pay attention earlier, but my Tales of the Four Seasons boxset arrived yesterday, which prompted me to skim through this thread. And now I've even ordered another Rohmer boxset.

It's been a long time since I have seen any of them, but recently I feel myself drawn back to European cinema. And I remember enjoying his movies a lot back then.

It's strange how it's almost like an effort at times, to make myself pick a non-American movie from my collection, but when I do I mostly get pleasantly surprised. I am just too lazy these days to follow a film all through subtitles.

Well Here in just a few weeks Valentine's Day will be on us once again. I have many more Romantic Comedies in my collection this year then I did last... so I am seriously thinking about making it a week long marathon and watch romantic comedies from the 13th through the 19th I think I have enough in my collection now to make it through a week. Especially if I do as I am planning and watch Valentine Day episodes of TV series as well. Though I am not 100% sure I have enough to watch one between each of the movies. I will have to check on that.

I have to research to see how many Valentine Day TV episodes I have... I am hoping I have plenty of them to add in to the week long marathon as well.

Under all circumstances avoid Bridget Jones, there's not enough alcohol in the universe to make this bearable.

Elizabethtown is a great film and should disappear from your unwatched pile immediately.

I liked Bridget Jones Diary - the second one, not so much.
