Interest in an English SAKAPO?
« on: December 21, 2009, 08:45:21 PM »
Hi,

SAKAPO is a service I've written some years ago to keep an eye on certain Amazon articles. As with all my tools it started out as a "for my use" only and became public at some point. It's very rudimentary and there are a lot of these price watchers out there (by now anyway).

But if you're interested, I could make tweak it to give it an additional English UI.

You basically add the ASIN of an Amazon article (ASIN = Amazon Standard Identification Number) to the watch list, enter your price limit (you have to use the "," as delimiter for now) and it'll inform you when Amazon drops the price to or below that limit.

If you want to check it out, the address is http://sakapo.de

Simple German crash course:

Registrieren = Register
Benutzername = Username
Anmelden = Log-In
Überprüfen = Check
Bestätigen = Confirm
Hinzufügen = Add
Bearbeiten = Edit
Löschen = Remove
Übersicht = Overview
Einstellungen = Settings

In my early DVD days I used a similar service at another website (I think it was dvd-center.de). But when I started to mainly order from overseas I stopped using it. But the last few months it has changed again and I order much of my stuff at amazon.co.uk and amazon.de. I regularly check my wishlists there to monitor the price changes, but I think I will check out your service :)

I wanted to give it a spin... but it's too german for me! So, yeah, I'd like an english UI ;)

How often are the prices updated?
I wonder when I will be notified, that Terminator: Salvation (Blu-ray) is available at amazon.de for 9.97€ (one-day offer) ;)

In earlier days I had it done on an two-hourly basis but the scripts were to heavy. Nowadays I run a Windows program from home at 19:30 MET.
