Has your daughter had a lot of snow days Pete? I know my niece and nephews had a couple of days off last week because they had to use some of their unused snow days up.

Buffalo still has nothing but that is supposed to change starting this afternoon. Supposedly we are to brace for out worse storm of the year. Unrelenting snow from now until the weekend.

My friend/tenant who lives in the front apartment has filled his fridge, freezer and pantry stocked up for the storm. He is a retired electrician who is also a chef so I haven't cooked a meal in years. I don't even have a stove or fridge in my house (I know that is hard to believe but it's true!) because they were a waste of space. I do have a microwave and toaster oven so I'm not too barbaric.

As long as I have coffee, cat and dog food, and cat litter (check) I'm ready for the blizzard...bring it on!

It is definitely not that Kathy...
She barely went to school for 2 weeks straight a few weeks back. It is so bad she may end up not having a summer vacation this year! Maybe that is their plan!... What you think Britt?   :tease:

I got heat stroke today for walking about 3 hours in the direct heat of the day (about 96F). Not as hot as it has been but still got to me after being in it for so long. How I wish for winter.

I raced to the window in great expectation and what do I see?...maybe a half inch of snow. I think I have to move to Texas to get a good snow storm.

Winter has finally arrived! It snowed about an inch or so an hour throughout the day and, although it has stopped now, I have about 10 inches of snow in my yard.  :yahoo: My brother, who lives about 30 miles south, got a couple of feet.

It always amazes me when I hear how a little snow paralyzes a community. I took a ride late in the afternoon and the streets were clear. Downtown is wonderful, we're having a winter festival this weekend so the snow is most welcome.

Buffalo just made the Guinness Book of World Records with our outdoor ice maze. It is a 12,000-square-foot ice maze, built with 2,200 slabs of ice. It broke the record set in 2005 by a Toronto festival. The Toronto maze cost over $300,000; Buffalo did it for $20,000 and a lot of volunteers. The picture is before the maze is complete - the center is, of course, a Buffalo. We are also closing one of our streets, the skyway, to make a huge tubing ramp. The skyway is next to the Niagara River and Lake Erie. There are a bunch of hockey tournaments and all around fun to be had this weekend, Everything is free and open to the public.

Parts of Asia, Australia and America (and other places) are all on Tsunami warning due to an earthquake in Chile. I heard it was a big one.

I have been in a 4.x earthquake, so I can honeslty confirm that the 8.8 they had sounds terrifying.

My parenty told me that a) 8.8 was the highest ever recorded and b) the tsunami only caused trouble in Chile itself(?). not sure about the latter, they are old and not always listen to my questions
