Intresting groups.... the media seems to think England has a good chance... Ill be honest :S I know nothing about Football... so

I can say only 2 positive thing about the European football :

1. This is more exciting to watch than a curling game,
2. It's one of the most exhausting sport I've played (hockey being the other).

But this is one of the most boring thing to watch on tv. Nobody score at all, most of the time the team who score first win (since 2 goals in a game is an high score), the players are always on the ground whining, ...

Why this sport leads to riot is completly beyond me... I fell asleep when I watch a game, not in an "I want to destroy everything and everyone" spirit...

I'm more a fan of Australian Football than any other type but I do like soccer and usually enjoy watching the world cup. I usually only watch the games that Australia are in though.

Is it the one who make north american football looks like a girl sport? The one were you don't want to get the ball unless you want to be kill (metaphorically of course)?

Never watch a complete game of this (not broadcast here) but it sure looks like a real man sport...

I have no clue about Australian Football, but I always found Giles' (from Buffy) description of American Football funny:
"I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby."

I believe that in the late 1850's when Australian football was first concieved it was seen to be a varient of rugby, however it has grown so much since that the two sports have almost nothing in common now. I am not a fan of rugby in any way, Ive tried to watch it before but I could never get through a game, much like American football. Yet I do love Australian football and I now don't see any similarities between the two sports.

Im not particularly a fan of any sports... I used to play Basketball on a team as a kid, I broke my fingers more times then I care to remember (I have long fingers) I quite liked rounders, but my surname is fielder and well....there were far to many rounders jokes for me to enjoy that game either.

I have always thought that all these "footballs" and Rugby are pretty much the same sport, if find them boring to watch... just a load of men jumping on each other. When I was little I used to watch the England football games, I don't now im not interested.

Ouch! I once broke my arm when my sister pushed me over but never any fingers.

But I agree with you on not being a fan of sports really, I find most sports a bit boring to watch and the only sport I actually like to include myself in is archery. That's about all the sport I'm involved in apart from the occasional round of beach soccer.

Rugby is the greatest, true competition without all the crap seen on football pitch, an honest physical game and the hardest full contact team sport around (without crash helmets!)
