Topic: Crossover

I was bored at work the other night and started thinking about different tv shows I like, one of which was Las Vegas and was wondering if the final season is ever going to be shown over here, and then I started thinking about a few of the episodes from the show.
Specifically the episodes with Jill Hennessy and Jerry O'Connel in them, where the reprised their characters from Crossing Jordan.

This then got me to thinking if I could think of any other shows where a guest star played the character thet they were possibly better known for in another show in this one. Spin-offs don't count.

The only other one that I could think of was, that I vaguely remember a Richard Belzer or Andre Braugher from Homicide: Life on the Street appearing in Chicago Hope(I wouldn't like to put money on it though).

Anyone else got any suggestions?

There's one on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't remember. I searched and found out that the characters from Absolutely Fabulous appeared on Roseanne! I though that was pretty extreme.

I always thought it would have been cool if Mulder and Scully did an episode of Buffy. You know, the FBI send them out, because there's an unusual amount of paranormal activity around there. I can just imagine Scully trying to rationalise the legend of the Hellmouth! Otherwise, my next fantasy crossover would be The Bill and Casualty; both suffer from terrible actors playing the guest opposite service, so join forces... 

In movies, I can think of a couple. The most recent would be Michael Keaton playing the same character in otherwise entirely unrelated, Jackie Brown and Out of Sight. Then there were a bunch of Film Noirs based on FBI files and a retired detective played himself in a couple of them.

I remember some comedy crossovers.  There was the time Steve Urkel (Family Matters) appeared on Step By Step, when Helen Hunt and her friend (the actress' name escapes me) made an appearance on Friends, Lea Thompson also appeared on Friends but her name wasn't used so I don't know if she was actually in her Caroline In The City character, and of course there's the popular crossover episode involving Batman and The Green Hornet from the 1960s.

Also Kevin James appeared as Doug from "King of Queens" multiple times on "Everybody Loves Raymond" (or was it the other way around?).

I think they appeared on each other's show.  Kevin actually appeared first on Everybody Loves Raymond as a character named Kevin...who was apparently a play-by-play guy for the Mets on the show.  Then he disappeared for awhile and the next time he was seen he was Doug, the delivery guy.

Hey Roger... Am I going nuts here... or do I remember Steve Urkel showing up on an episode of Full House as well?

I want to say he made Stephanie feel better about her glasses in an ep?

You could be right, Pete.  In Step By Step he went dancing with Al...seems like Laura is the only girl not into Steve!

I enjoy crossover episodes usually but they do create a problem. It's OK when they are there just for the show (like Stewie was on Bones) but I don't like when they have half the story on one show and another half of the story on the other show. Homicide: Life on the Streets did that with Law and Order (other shows do it as well). When you watch the DVD you get either part A or Part B of the story.  Not cool!

CSI just did a trilogy where the story played out on all three shows in the same week (didn't watch so don't know for sure). Does that mean you have to have CSI: Season X,  CSI Miami: Season Y and CSI New York: Season Z just to watch the story arc?!?

Yeah, they did that with Batman and The Green Hornet...and now I recall they also did that with Ally McBeal and (I think) Boston Legal.  I wonder if they included both parts of the story when they got to that episode on the Ally McBeal DVDs?

I think I remember Urkel turning up on Full House too.  I think there was something about a science project for the reason he was there and then he ended up talking to Stephenie about her glasses.  I think.
