I wasn't that impressed with Kristen Stewart as Bella either.  I haven't decided yet it if strictly because of the material..her acting or a combination of both.  I haven't seen her in anything else yet either.

I know I tend to get worked up over things Kathy and I apologise. It's just so hard for me to see all my friends, as well as millions of other people around the world become obsessed with such utter rubbish. I am a fan of good film and good literature and the sad thing is that most of the fans actually know that the films crap and that the books are poorly written but they don't care, they just go on being obsessed becuase of how the characters look, not the story involved. Basically it makes me fear for the human race that this one woman has seemingly brainwashed thousands of people. People have been quitting their jobs to live in the town that it's based in. They have now even created their own religion! No one should have this much power over people, especially for something just so mediocre. Or that's what I think anyway.

Some people are idiots.  I don't know if they're born that way, raised that way or whatever.  It's a phase that begins with puberty and some kids never seem to be able to snap out of it.  I think some people are just destined to be idiots.  If they weren't moving to Forks WA and starting their own religion, they would just find something else to be idiots about.  Then it seems every few years something comes along (pet rocks, mood rings, cults, Twilight, etc.) that gives all these idiots a common ground so they can socialize with other idiots and the media jumps in and it becomes a three ring circus.  I don't blame Stephanie Meyer (or whatever her name is).  If they weren't obsessed with Twilight it would just be something else.

So they don't bother me.  They're just behaving as nature designed them.  And in the mean time, they provide a few chuckles for normal people.  Plus someone has to be at the other end of that particular yardstick (normal behavior).

Woah dude, little offensive there, I wouldn't say people who like Twilight are stupid, they just like Twilight :S I have friends who like it, and thats there choice! Ive been a fan of some of these popular things, I loved Pokemon, I love Judd Apatow Comedies ;P all of which are part of those "popular" things :S heck, Id even say I watched High School Musical expecting to hate it, but found it just like any generic Disney story, and kinda enjoyed it.  :bag:

I'm not so much a fan of the newer ones as well. Some of the Pokemon are just darn right weird. I only like watching the original series but I still rewatch them sometimes. As for the games, I will play pretty much any of the games and your'e right, they are very repetitive but I don't even care becuase I love them haha. I have completed, Red, Yellow, Ruby, FireRed and LeafGreen.

Haha Kathy, that's understandable as you werent a child growing up in the late 90's. If you were you would understand. Pokemon was the biggest craze since tamagotchis and furbies. Unlike some though I never really grew out of it.

Not offensive. Mark wasn't talking about people who like Twilight, or anything else for that matter. He was talking about those that are unhealthily obsessed. They are stupid and they need psychological help! Possibly some medicine.

I agree with this, there's really nothing wrong with liking something...even Twilight *shudders*, it's just the hoards of over obsessed people that makes me worry for the world. We already know lots of people becomming obsessed with one thing is bad. Just look at how many people have died (literally) already from playing World of Warcraft.

Yeah, that again is normal. But did you hear about the petition that was online to get Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers renamed? Thousands of people thought that Peter Jackson was taking the piss out of 9/11...  ???

It's those people, Emma. They're the ones that are walking arguments for euthanasia.

Emma watching a film over and over if you love it is fine, I do it all the time. But need I remind you of the Twilight religion!

Also another thing, I found out today that there is a group of people in my town (about a hundred or so) who call themselves The Vampire Waiting List. It's a Twilight thing full of people so obsessed that they are actually paying people to bite them becuase they think they will become vampires.. Like literally bit them! That's not only stupid but downright dangerous. There's going to be a spread of disease from activities like that.

But again it's not reading things over and over that I think is annoying, it's the over obsessed. Heres a snippet I found on the religion as an example.

Quote
Their creed, say the Cullenists, includes a base set of beliefs that "Edward and the rest of the Twilight characters are real," that "[t]he Twilight series should be worshipped," and that "f you are good in life, you will be bless[ed] with eternity with the Cullens." Other than that, say the Cullenists, there "is not a limit to what you can believe in when it comes to the Cullenism religion . . . we will accept any other Cullenism beliefs you may have." Cullenists are also expected to read some of the books on a daily basis, "like the Bible" and make a pilgrimage to Forks

Thanks Jon.  Yes, you got it right.  I think I even said I enjoyed the books and movie earlier in this very thread.  But I'll also admit to liking the American Pie series, so take that with a pinch of salt.
