Combat Pack: 20 Movie Pack

This is a collection of War movies my mother had in her collection. Which is of course now mine. And I was wondering (since I know little about war movies) if any of these (I am sure lesser known) war movies are worth checking out anytime soon. So anyone here know any of the following?...

- Aerial Gunner (Richard Arlen 1943)
- Battle of Blood Island (Richard Devon 1960)
- The Big Lift (Montgomery Cliff 1950)
- Black Brigade (Stephen Boyd 1970)
- Blood on the Sun (James Cagney 1945)
- British Intelligence (Boris Karloff 1940) Never Knew Boris Karloff did a war movie!
- Commandos (Lee Van Cleef 1968)
- Convoy (Stewart Granger 1940)
- The Dawn Express (Anne Nagel 1942)
- Flying Blind (Richard Arlen 1941)
- Four in a Jeep (Ralph Meeker 1951)
- Gung Ho (Randolph Scott 1943)
- Identity Unknown (Richard Arlen 1945)
- The Last Chance (E.G. Morrison 1945)
- Minesweeper (Richard Arlen 1943)
- The Navy Way (Robert Lowery 1944)
- One of Our Aircraft is Missing (Eric Portman 1942)
- Private Buckaroo (The Andrew Sisters 1942) This one will take some convincing... says it is a musical comedy.
- Spitfire (David Nivan 1942)

I don't reallt recognise any of them, but that isn't surprising considering the majority were made during the war. Beware, Pete, because a lot of those amounted to little more than propaganda, so they are very dated. They are also studio pictures, so don't be surprised by the names. Karloff would have been under contract, so essentially it would be just a job.

The Andrews Sisters were famous singers, so yes, that will definitely be a musical based one!  I'm sure I've heard of Commandos though. Starring Lee Van Cleef in 1968? Should be fun at least.

Thanks... I am downloading profiles for each movie to make my own boxset for it... and found out that Black Brigade is a TV movie that also stars Richard Pryor and Billy Dee Williams... so that one may be good as well.

I've heard of a few of them but am not overly familiar with any of them.  My Leonard Maltin's Classic Movie Guide did like Adventures of Tartu (giving it 3 stars out of a possible 4) ...but that Andrews Sisters musical only got 2 stars.

Ok, ive heard of a few and here are my opinions!

Spitfire - is an ok film, its a fictional biopic of a guy (don't remember the name) who developed the Spitfire... it seems to be a morale boosting film, probably due to the time it was made.

Private Buckaroo - Is also a relatively funny film.. well I found it funny :p its like you said kind of a musical comedy, all I seem to remember from this one is three dancing sisters :S but I liked it when I watched it!

You know... I may have to bite the bullet and watch that musical (Private Buckaroo) comedy this weekend. I just seen in the profile that Shemp Howard of The Three Stooges is also in it. And for some reason that got me very curios about this movie.

So right now I am sitting here brave enough to watch it this weekend... but will I change my mind between now and then?

Speaking of Shemp, I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and noticed that the latest Three Stooges volume is out.  I didn't buy it, though...I'm not sure I want the post-Curly shorts...

I always liked Curly better too... but for some reason the idea of Shemp in this movie has me curios. Guess I want to see what he is like without the other stooges.
