I posted a photo of my fish tank not long ago but you could hardly see the fish in it. So this is a closer view of my Betta fish called Alpha.

That's a beautiful Betta.

I used to raise fish many years ago, my favorites were freshwater Angels.

Thanks Antares! The only other time I have ever had fish was a couple of Goldfish when I was 5 years old or something. It's great to have one again and I just love the Betta.

Also as far as those storms go, I'm really hoping that it's not a three storms in three days thing as I have my archery Christmas breakup this afternoon which is an outdoor event. If we have another storm this afternoon it could be well... interesting.

I've always been a bit rubbish at night photography, but the recent snow makes for an eerie effect on the light, so I thought I'd have a crack...

To be honest, cameras are fooled by snow as it screws up the white balance, but I let PhotoShop Elements correct them and actually, I preferred this glow...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Today I decided to put up my Christmas tree. I took these photos earlier tonight from in my living room; they came out quite well and it was good practice for me using my SLR camera.

 Nice! Which camera have you got? You can really tell the difference between standard digital and SLR, I think. There's a depth that can't be matched. Which I'm glad about because mine is four years old and 'only' 8 megapixel! It's approaching double that now.

I have the Nikon D3000, which is 10.2 megapixel. It's takes great photos. With the photos I took above I was just playing with the shutter speed.

That's a lovely tree. My Mum and I put ours up today. I will probably post some photos soon. I also put a little Santa statue in Alpha's fish tank so he can get in the spirit of things.
Also, I love your Coke thing.

Thanks, I love my Coke lamp. I bought it at Dandenong Plaza, in one of those cheapo shops for like $10. I'm surprised it hasn't burnt the house down yet

That is the one feature I always look in a digital camera: being able to make long-exposure photographs. You know, like 10 seconds, maybe, so that I can take pictures in the night. It is amazing how much light there actually is, when given enough time to collect it

Those I did were 3-4 seconds. You can see headlights from a car on the second one! A friend of mine did a short evening class in photography and he described a picture the tutor showed him. It was a bright picture of a waterfall, full of detail, but the water looked like glass. Apparently it had been taken at night in almost complete darkness. The exposure time was very long, into tens of minutes. Wish I'd seen it myself.

Here are some cracking examples of long exposures: http://www.digital-photography-school.com/long-exposure-photography
