Disney to buy Marvel.
« on: August 31, 2009, 11:47:03 PM »
I thought this could be of interests for those of us who like cartoons to film movies.  Disney is set to buy Marvel for 4 Billion dolars.  That will give disney the ownership of thousands of characters like Fantastic Four, Hulk, Ironman etc.

Urgh. I like Disney and I like Marvel, but I hope they don't mix, regardless of how this turns out. I know you said "cartoons" but that is very far from what Marvel is about. I'm not keen on American comics overall but the idea of the Hulk being a Disney character appalls me...

I heard about this on the news earlier today.  I'm not sure what I think about it yet.

I really do worry about the implications of this.

As we know Disney is a "family" orientated company and tend to shy away from the edgier material, WHAT will they do with the less friendly characters and storylines? The way that they could potentially end up castrating certain characters is not good in my mind.

Finally Wolverine can talk about his feelings in group therapy - have you ever thought about that?

Will they still do crossovers? Wolverine vs Mickey? Or a musical cartoon version of The Fantastic Four...

How about "Pete's Thing"?
