The Guild

The Guild is a web series which claims to be "for gamers, about gamers, by gamers". The main role is played by Felicia Day (Buffy, Dr. Horrible). It's basically about the members of a MMORP game guild which meet for the first time in RL.

I found it by watching this music video by and with the main characters:

There's already a second "season", but here's the first episode:

And here it continues: Youtube

I've heard a little about this, but I didn't know exactly what it was about.  I've been meaning to check it out sometime.

I read just in the last few days somewhere - I forgot where now - that Joss Whedon had something to do with the making of that video.

I couldn't get into it personally. Might have something to do with the fact that I've hated MMORPG ever since I tried WoW during its infancy.

I have no idea if the average player IQ raised any since then, or, much more likely, if Blizzard realized they were losing potential players and put systems in place to control the jerks, but I've been completely turned off to the whole concept of a MMORPG and it's going to be a while until I even consider trying it again.

Anyways, I watched the whole first season, and I had to struggle through. I kept watching because of Felicia Day, other than that, I didn't see any incentive to keep watching, and when they announced a second season (a now a third), I didn't follow.

Jed Whedon (his son AFAIK), not Joss

There are still jerks in WoW and people who act like idiots.  I just basically do my own thing and ignore them.

I watched the first five episodes so far. I like it :)
I have never played any MMORPG, but maybe that helps enjoying this series.

But doesn't that destroy the actual MMO part? Why not just play a standard RPG then...

I do things with a friend at times.  And will talk to other people at times too...I just don't let the jerks bother me.
I do like there new stuff keeps being added..and some of the events in the game are fun.

I watched all the episodes from seasons 1 and 2.  Very entertaining.
