Doh. :bag:

...and wow, it's a free movie. Even available in 1080p (although the links to that file are currently broken). Will download and watch this over the weekend.

To quote Nina Paley: "Free as in freedom, not free as in free beer." So if you like it, consider buying the DVD or making a donation.

Good point there!

I'll download it and watch it. If I like it I will donate to prove the director's point in choosing this kind of distribution.

Mathias,

Until now I didn't really understand how you could see it differently than me.  I'm testing the new version of Tiny Portal and I thought there was a bug in it but then I realized it's the perfect example of what you meant.

The portal allows you to specify if you want the blocks within a panel to be displayed horizontally or vertically.

For them this is Horizontally

A A A

And this is Vertically

It didn't make sense to me until I realized they looked at from the order in which they are displayed by the program and not how they look on the screen.

So vertically the blocks are displayed from top to bottom and vertically they are displayed from left to right.

I would never have thought of it that way.

Although I'm a programmer I believe that when you design a user interface the wording in the options should match what the user will see on screen.  If my blocks are shown as rows that's horizontal, if they're shown as columns then it's vertical...............

I think we should post that at Invelos and get Skip involved.......................................then count the pages

BTW Karsten, it's still beta but I think you're gonna want it when they release the final version.  Lots of improvements.  They now have many more sets of panels.  You have Left and Right then from top to bottom you can have Top, Upper, Front, Lower and Bottom.   Then for each panel you can specify if you want to the blocks to show vertically, horizontally in 2, 3, 4 columns or by 2 different choices of grid layouts.

For each panel you can say if you want it only in the portal or also in the forum and for each block in the panels you can specify where you want it to appear like Everywhere, Frontpage, Board Index or even for each board. I've been playing with it for a few days in my test forum and it's gonna be great.  It would give you much more flexibility in displaying the front page reviews.

Take a look if you want.

Ironically I would have expected that result. In case of the splitting my "mental focus" lies on the splitline itself that runs from left to right ("on the horizon"). Now the focus in not on a splitline but on a bunch of frames and if they are aligned horizontally I would expect them to be side by side.

And I will take a look :)
