After packaging up all the movies to ship today... she found there was just a little more room left in the box... so she went ahead and added...

Eternal
When the beautiful wife of a Montreal vice cop disappears, his investigation leads him to an alluring temptress who admits only to having steamy sex with the missing woman. Unconvinced, the detective plunges into her dark, erotic world, uncovering a terrifying connection to a 16th-century countess said to have seduced and murdered young women to bathe in their blood in order to remain immortal. Now, the detective finds himself in a deadly race against time to prevent this modern vampiress from claiming another victim in this supernatural thriller inspired by actual events.
Dracula vs. Frankenstein
When top scientists simultaneously die in separate automobile accidents, fiendish alien visitors invade their bodies. The aliens, using their own knowledge and the scientists intellect, devise a diabolical, world threatening plot to resurrect great monsters including Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula and The Werewolf for the building of a vicious army to conquer the human race. Suspense mounts when the conspiracy goes awry as the monsters turn their evil action against each other. Failure comes fast and furious as the alien empire explodes in total devastation bringing an end to this terrifying science fiction thriller.

And here we go again. The friend over at Invelos... the one that sent me The Blind Side, Sherlock Holmes and The Wolf Man among others PMed me.

She was in Big Lots and remembered seeing this one on my wish list so she picked it up for me...

Village of the Damned / Children of the Damned
We have met the enemies and they are our children. Well, perhaps not our children, and that's the problem: they are the offspring of aliens who secretly impregnated human women!

That's the riveting premise of Village of the Damned, a science-fiction classic rife with paranoia and set in England's tiny Midwich. There, the glow-eyed humanoids develop at an alarming rate and use astonishing powers of mind to assert their supremacy. Woe to parents or anyone who defies them. Yet one intrepid soul (George Sanders) does. It's "yesterday Midwich, tomorrow the world" in the sequel Children of the Damned. Unusually gifted youngsters who may be a leap forward in human evolution are brought from around the globe to England for scientific study – and then the terror hits with full force. Children, behave!

And then she added...

"I might send it by itself, or I might get all froggy tomorrow and add some others as well."

How cool is that?

It ended up on my Wishlist because I watched and enjoyed the remake of Village of the Damned. I really shouldn't be surprised by this... but after watching the trailer last night... I have to say the original looks even better!

I got a PM again last night... She named 2 other movies that will be in the package. But put the titles in spoiler tags and said if I want to know what they are I can peek. If not... they will be a surprise.

Plus she said there could be a couple more depending if she has room.

I have not peeked yet on the other two titles... so what do you all say... how long can I go without peeking?  :P

OK... so I couldn't hold off too long.  :bag:

These 2 I know for sure will be in the package...

American Gangster
Academy Award® winners† Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe team with director Ridley Scott (Gladiator) in this powerful, epic story. Armed with ruthless, streetwise tactics and a strict sense of honor, crime boss Frank Lucas (Washington) rules Harlem's chaotic drug underworld. When outcast cop Richie Roberts (Crowe) sets out to bring down Lucas's multimillion-dollar empire, it plunges both men into a legendary confrontation. American Gangster is "a brutal and brilliant film" (Pete Hammond, Maxim).

† Denzel Washington, 2001 Best Actor, Training Day and 1989 Best Supporting Actor, Glory. Russell Crowe, 2000 Best Actor, Gladiator.
Watchmen
Someone's killing our super heroes. The year is 1985 and super heroes have banded together to respond to the murder of one of their own. They soon uncover a sinister plot that puts all of humanity in grave danger. The super heroes fight to stop the impending doom only to find themselves a target for annihilation. But if our super heroes are gone, who will save us?

There is a couple more she mentioned... but said she is not sure yet. So I will post those when I know for sure. :)

I now officially know I will also be getting a couple of Criterion (I believe she upgraded them to Blu-ray) releases as well...

The Man Who Fell to Earth
The Man Who Fell to Earth is a daring exploration of science fiction as an art form. The story of an alien on an elaborate rescue mission provides the launching pad for Nicolas Roeg's visual tour de force, a formally adventurous examination of alienation in contemporary life. Rock legend David Bowie completely embodies the title role, while Candy Clark, Buck Henry, and Rip Torn turn in pitch-perfect supporting performances. The film's hallucinatory vision was obscured in the American theatrical release, which deleted nearly twenty minutes of crucial scenes and details. The Criterion Collection is proud to present Roeg's full, uncut version, in this exclusive new director-approved high-definition widescreen transfer.
The Third Man
Pulp novelist Holly Martins travels to shadowy, postwar Vienna, only to find himself investigating the mysterious death of an old friend, black-market opportunist Harry Lime—and thus begins this legendary tale of love, deception, and murder. Thanks to brilliant performances by Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, and Orson Welles; Anton Karas's evocative zither score; Graham Greene's razor-sharp dialogue; and Robert Krasker's dramatic use of light and shadow, The Third Man, directed by the inimitable Carol Reed, only grows in stature as the years pass.

It will be my first time seeing either one of them! :)

I loved the original version of "Village of the Damned" though I've not seen it in years.  The sequel, "Children of the Damned" is one I'm not sure I've ever seen...it's not as highly regarded but still worth watching, I think.  "The Third Man" is a great film.  On the other hand, I saw "The Man Who Fell To Earth" in a theater when it first came out and that movie bored me to tears.  Maybe it's just me...hopefully, others like it more.

Someone on the DVD Profiler forum just told me The Man that Fell To Earth is a very good film... so it could go either way for me I guess. :P

I just got another PM from here... she had to "Fill up the Box" so she is also sending me...

Dirty Dancing
Heartthrob PATRICK SWAYZE, JENNIFER GREY and dancing sensation CYNTHIA RHODES star in this electrifying and sensual film.  A vivid love story, DIRTY DANCING is set to pounding rhythms and vibrant dance – guaranteed to be the time of your life!

It's summer, 1963. Baby (GREY), 17 years old and innocnet, is vacationing with her parents in the Catskills. While exploring the resort grounds late one evening, she is drawn to the staff quarters by stirring music. There she meets Johnny (SWAYZE), the hotel dance instructor, who is as experienced in life as Baby is naïve. Mesmerized by the sexy beats and uninhibited movements of "dirty dancing," Baby soon becomes Johnny's prize pupil – in dance and in love.
Good Night, and Good Luck
It's 1953, and the piece of talking furniture called TV is still a novelty in America's living rooms. On it, Sen. Joseph McCarthy uses fear, falsehoods and belligerence to become arguably the most powerful man in the land. On it, newsman Edward R. Murrow, who's had his fill of the senator's tactics, fights back.

That pivotal clash of two titans is the focus of director/co-writer George Clooney's award-winning Good Night, and Good Luck. David Strathairn portrays Murrow, the principled “face of television” who maps his strategy with his producer and confidant, Fred Friendly (Clooney). A deft ensemble plays staff members in the bustling battleground that is the CBS newsroom. McCarthy is in the mix, too, intercut into the action via real-life footage. Don't touch that dial. A media and a nation are going to change – while on the air.
Solaris
Superstar George Clooney turns in a stellar performance in this "brilliant sci-fi movie" (New York Daily News) from Academy Award® winners Steven Soderbergh (2000 - Best Director, Traffic) and James Cameron (1997 - Best Picture, Titanic).

Aboard a lonely space station orbiting a mysterious planet, terrified crew members are experiencing a host of strange phenomena, including eerie visitors who seem all too human. And when psychologist Chris Kelvin (Clooney) arrives to investigate, he confronts a power beyond imagining that could hold the key to mankind's deepest dreams...or darkest nightmares. Co-starring Natascha McElhone and Jeremy Davies, Solaris is "mind-bending!" (Rolling Stone)
A Fish Called Wanda
Tour-de-force performances from an unparalleled comic cast highlight this much-loved hit that Roger Ebert calls "the funniest movie I have seen in a long time!" Monty Pythoners John Cleese and Michael Palin (Search For The Holy Grail, The Meaning Of Life) join Oscar® winner* Kevin Kline (In & Out) and Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies) in an entertainment so impeccably timed and executed that Time Magazine hailed it as: "Genius – [a film that] redefines a great comic tradition!"

Four conniving jewel thieves...three yorkshire terriers...two heaving bosoms and one proper British barrister. It all adds up to "a non-stop barrage of...outrageous plot twists and over-the top performances" (L.A. Weekly) when a girl called Wanda (Curtis) tries to deceive her Nietzche-quoting boyfriend (Kline), an animal-loving hitman (Palin) and an embarrassment-prone counselor (Cleese) out of a fortune in jewels in this hilariously funny farce!

*1988: Best Supporting Actor, A Fish Called Wanda
When Harry Met Sally
"Brimming over with style, intelligence and flashing wit" (Rolling Stone), this "splendid and irresistible" (Los Angeles Times) film from director Rob Reiner (The American President) is one of the best-loved romantic comedies of all time. Featuring dazzling performances from Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby, exceptional music from Harry Connick Jr., and an Oscar®-nominated screenplay by Nora Ephron, When Harry Met Sally is an "explosively funny" (Newsweek) commentary on friendships, courtships - and other hardships - of the modern age.

Will sex ruin a perfect relationship between a man and a woman? That's what Harry (Crystal) and Sally (Ryan) debate during their trip from Chicago to New York. And eleven years later, they're still no closer to finding the answer. Will these two best friends ever accept that they're meant for each other... or will they contine to deny the attraction that's existed ever since the first moment When Harry Met Sally?
Casino Royale
Welcome to Casino Royale, the ultimate psychedelic secret agent satire! Packed with girls, guns and gags galore, this "very funny picture" (The New Yorker) delivers "laughs all the way" (Cue)! Starring Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress, David Niven, Joanna Pettet, Orson Welles, Daliah Lavi, Woody Allen, Deborah Kerr, William Holden and others, and with an original score from Oscar® winner* Burt Bacharach, this groovy spy movie is "even farther out" (L.A. Herald Examiner) than all other spoofs combined!

British Intelligence is waning...in every possible way! When the diabolical SMERSH begins killing off Her Majesty's Secret Service, super-agent James Bond (Niven) recruits six more "James Bonds" to confuse and conquer their enemies. But it won't be easy...they'll have to face an army of irresistibly sexy female operatives, exploding robotic fowl, parachuting Indians and a germ that makes all women beautiful... but kills all men over 4'6"!

*1981: Original Song (with Carole Bayer Sager, Christopher Cross, Peter Allen), Arthur, 1969: Original Song (Lyrics by Hal David), Score, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Squid and the Whale
In his third feature, director Noah Baumbach scores a triumph with an autobiographical coming-of-age story about a teenager whose writer-parents are divorcing. The father (Jeff Daniels) and mother (Laura Linney) duke it out in half-civilized, half-savage fashion, while their two sons adapt in different ways, shifting allegiances between parents. The film is squirmy-funny and nakedly honest about the rationalizations and compensatory snobbisms of artistic failure as well as the conflicted desires of adolescents for sex and status. In detailing bohemian-bourgeois life in brownstone Brooklyn, Baumbach is spot on. Everyone proceeds from good intentions and acts rather badly, in spite or because of their manifest intelligence. Fulfilling the best traditions of the American independent film, this quirky, wisely written feature explores the gulf between sexes, generations, art and commerce, Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The Pursuit of Happyness
Will Smith stars in the inspirational true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman who's struggling to make ends meet. When his girlfriend Linda (Thandie Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise their 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith) on his own. Chris' determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the streets, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. With self-confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.
Rise - Blood Hunter
Female reporter Sadie Blake (Lucy Liu) wakes up in a morgue to find herself a member of the undead, the victim of a brutal vampire ritual. Trying desperately to fight off her thirst, Sadie prowls the dark city streets, armed with a crossbow and hell-bent on slaying the twisted vampires that made her this way. With an all-star cast featuring Carla Gugino, Michael Chiklis and James D'Arcy, prepare for a bloody descent into a terrifying underworld.
Freedom Writers
Two-time Oscar®-winner* Hilary Swank stars in this gripping story of inner-city kids raised on drive-by shootings and hard-core attitude – and the teacher who gives them the one thing they need most: a voice of their own. Dropped into the free-fire zone of a school torn by violence and racial tension, teacher Erin Gruwell battles an uncaring system in a fight to make the classroom matter in her students' lives. Now, telling their own stories, and hearing the stories of others, a group of supposedly "unteachable" teens will discover the power of tolerance, reclaim their shattered lives and change the world. With electrifying performances from its all-star cast, including Golden Globe® winner** Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy) and recording star Mario, Freedom Writers is based on the acclaimed best-seller, The Freedom Writers Diary.

*Actress in a Leading Role, Boys Don't Cry, 1999, Million Dollar Baby, 2004

**Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series-Drama, Grey's Anatomy, 2006, 2007
Kaiju Big Battel: Terebi Sento

Terebi Sento captures four epic Kaiju Big Battels beginning with a classic culinary confrontation between Kung-Fu Chicken Noodle and Club Sandwich. The bitter rivals Los Plantanos and Team Space Bug vie for the coveted Golden Banana Award for Tag Team Excellence. A History of Violence
In this thrill-packed actioner, small-town diner owner, Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen, The Lord of the Rings trilogy) finds himself a local hero after he successfully takes down two thugs during an attempted robbery. But his sudden celebrity draws unwanted attention from the outside world, including mobsters Carl Fogarty (Academy Award® nominee Ed Harris, A Beautiful Mind)* and Richie Cusack (Academy Award® winner William Hurt, Kiss of the Spider Woman),** who insist that Tom is intricately tied to their past. Fogarty begins stalking Tom's wife (Maria Bello, The Cooler) and children, resulting in a bloody standoff in which Tom must protect his family from what is either a case of mistaken identity or a violent past that's finally caught up with him.

*Best Supporting Actor, The Hours (2002)
**Best Actor, Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985)

Now there is a few things about these...
- She didn't give me anything but titles... so I may have the versions wrong
- She didn't tell me the year on Casino Royal... so can't be sure if it is the 1954, 1967 or 2006 version I will be getting
- The title she gave me is Rise for the one... this was the closest to that title in the database... not sure if I have the right movie or not on that one. There is also one called Risen that it could be.

That is an incredible selection. The Third Man? For crying out loud, that Criterion is a superb edition and not exactly cheap. That is very generous. The same goes for The Man Who Fell To Earth, though I expect you won't like it, Pete. It is a good film, but a surreal one. The Squid and the Whale is an unusual drama, but if you do like it even only a bit, it could open up a whole new world for you as the writer/director works frequently with Wes Anderson.

I love History Of Violence. Bloody fantastic.

I was PMed over at the other site to let me know I had a few wrong in the last post.  I did have the right Rise:thumbup:

But the Casino Royal is the new one...  There is a couple different editions... so I am guessing it is this one...

Casino Royale
CASINO ROYALE introduces JAMES BOND before he holds his license to kill. But Bond is no less dangerous, and with two professional assassinations in quick succession, he is elevated to "00" status. "M" (Judi Dench), head of the British Secret Service, sends the newly-promoted 007 on his first mission that takes him to Madagascar, the Bahamas and eventually leads him to Montenegro to face Le Chiffre, a ruthless financier under threat from his terrorist clientele, who is attempting to restore his funds in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale. "M" places Bond under the watchful eye of the Treasury official Vesper Lynd. At first skeptical of what value Vesper can provide, Bond's interest in her deepens as they brave danger together. Le Chiffre's cunning and cruelty come to bear on them both in a way Bond could never imagine, and he learns his most important lesson: Trust no one.

And I was told I got the wrong editions for Dirty Dancing and When Harry Met Sally.... I am getting...

Dirty Dancing
The summer of 1963 innocent 17-year-old Baby (Grey) vacations with her parents at a Catskill's resort.  One evening she is drawn to the staff quarters by stirring music.  There she meets Johnny, the hotel dance instructor, who is as experienced as Baby is naive.  Baby soon becomes Johnny's pupil in dance and love.
When Harry Met Sally...
From acclaimed director Rob Reiner (The Princess Bride) comes this "explosively funny" (Newsweek) romantic comedy classic starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. One of the most beloved romances of all time, When Harry Met Sally... is "shimmering [with] intelligence and humor" (Boxoffice) as it exposes "the kind of truth about relationships that hasn't shown up in movies before" (New York)...or since!

Sex always gets in the way of friendships between men and women. At least, that's what Harry Burns (Crystal) believes. So when Harry meets Sally Albright (Ryan) and a deep friendship blossoms between them, Harry's determined not to let his attraction to Sally destroy it. But when a night of weakness ends in a morning of panic, can the pair avoid succumbing to Harry's fears by remaining friends and admitting they just might be the perfect match for each other?

So that means this box is full now... and it will have 17 titles... It will contain...

Pete
