Finished season 2. It got really good the second time they did a "quantum leap" and "gave chase". Only the second to last episode had a few weird moments. The ending, while a bit cheesy, certainly set things up so that season 3 can be different to what we had thus far.

I am now two discs into season 3 and it is quite the mixed bag for me. Chuck's self centeredness is highly annoying to me and he still keeps to think that discussing personal issue is best done while on a dangerous mission, ideally when he in fact should be stealthy and not talk at all :slaphead: I'd say about the third episodes is quite great with the rest varying from "acceptable" to boring or annoying. The romance between Chuck and Sarah is annoying as ever, now with the added twist

The Buy More comedy bits are beginning to be my favorite parts.

I completed season 3 and this statement has become true.

Season 3 has had the most painful writing I have ever witnessed in any TV show, besides from soaps of course. Chuck has become ridiculously self-absorbed and seriously has to learn to shut up every once in a while. While a common trait in many characters on TV in general, Chuck takes the cake in regards to talking without listening what others have to say first, repeatedly ruining stuff. Ellie is even worse, I want to slap her almost every time she is on screen. But I think it has a lot to do with the poor writing, as I always have so much more knowledge about what's going on than Ellie. Although her blind trust in a stranger towards the end of the season is mind boggling...

In short, for me Chuck (the series) is best when Chuck (the character) or members of his family are not on scene :stars:

If season 4 doesn't get any better I probably won't make it to season 5.

EDIT:
Let me add, most spy stories are still great! And as long as Chuck is focused even he is fun in those.

Little update...

I have now watched 4 of the five discs that make up season 4. The first disc or two had little change to them but now I am enjoying it much more! So obviously they stretched out that "will they, won't they" scenario way over its welcome, at least for my taste. Now that the whole dynamic is different and they have fun with that, I enjoy the show much more. Hopefully season 5 will keep up with this.

EDIT:
Finished season 4 and while the last two episodes caused some eye-rolloing to happen once again, the final scene made me actually look forward to season 5.

I am still surprised by the looks of Linda Hamilton; and I don't really mean that in a good way. It almost seems here entire face structure has changed. I would not have recognized her if it wasn't for the credit (after the opening credits). In fact, I didn't actually recognize her and had to deduce who she is by simply realizing it could be no other character :bag:
