I suppose I just said depressing because that's how I personally felt after I watched it. You're right though it is more tragic that an actual depressing film. And I agree on Piper Perabo, aside from Imagine Me and You she has done a lot of bad films.

Based on the German movie "Mädchen in Uniform" from 1931. The movie was okay. Nothing special though. I was entertained during the short runtime. But I found the emotions in this movie forced and not all that natural.

Very watchable movie. Nothing special but I was not entertained throughout. This movie features a few lesbian, straight and gay relationships. All were okay, but the only one that I thought had real chemistry didn't seem to have worked out.

My Thoughts:
As I am currently in the mood to watch Asian cinema, I thought this would be right moment to rewatch this movie for this thread. This is a nice little romance movie and it deals a little with the fear of gay people living in the Japanese society. It is not a tragic movie but gives a positive outlook for all people involved.

I wouldn't know, I haven't seen that many. But I suspect that more guys watch these movies than woman, for obvious reasons.

You'd be surprised. These movies focus more on the emotional side than the physical side most of the time, something that would bore any guy just looking for "action". It's easier just to turn to porn rather than watch a bunch of lesbian films.

Falling for a woman was an unimaginable situation for wife, mother and church-goer Elena (Necar Zadegan, 24). Coming out of the closet won't be easy, with Peyton by her side, Elena is determined to put right all the wrongs and be true to herself.

My Thoughts:
A nice movie. One of the better independently produced lesbian themed movies. Though no real surprises. It holds the record of the longest movie kiss "organic to the film".
The actors all did a great job.

Nice enough movie with beautiful girls. Nicely shot. But overall it's nothing more than two girls bullshitting each other (telling false and true stories about their lives) with some softcore sex scenes thrown in.

     The Fish Child (2009/Argentina)

Stars:
Inés Efron as Lala
Mariela Vitale (Emme) as la Guayi
Pep Munné as el Juez Bronté

The pair hatch a plan to rob Lala's family to fund their dream of living together in Paraguay, but while Lala waits to be reunited with her lover, she is detained in a prison in the outskirts of Buenos Aires for a crime she committed long ago. Desperate to be with her girlfriend, Lala devises a dangerous rescue plan to get her back.

Boasting beautiful cinematography and electrifying performances from its two female leads, celebrated Argentine director Lucía Puenzo (XXY) returns with a gripping tale of forbidden lesbian romance and a crime heist gone awry.

Extras:
  • Bonus Trailers
  • Featurettes

My Thoughts:
An okay movie. A little clichéd. The young lesbian couple is involved in a crime and one of them is now trying to get to the other who is in prison.
The two leads are natural beauties.
This is my first Argentinian movie.

Just as the pair begin to bond, the true reasons for Alexandra's return begin to unravel, threatening the future for both of them.

The award-winning A Marine Story highlights the absurdity of the US military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy through the personal story of one courageous woman.

Extras:
  • Commentary

My Thoughts:
The story about a woman who gets discharged from the Marines because she is gay and how she is dealing with the aftermath. She also befriends a troubled teen who they want to sent off to boot camp and she is preparing her for it.
A nice enough movie which kept me interesting throughout the runtime.

My Thoughts:
This movie deals mainly with racial prejudices. But it also has a nicely developed lesbian relationship (at least in the end it ends at the start of one). These two women have great chemistry together. These two actresses already did a lesbian themed movie together ("I Can't Think Straight", which I have reviewed before), but this one is a lot better.
