I still say that Timothy Dalton is the best Bond.

I tend to agree.

I think he could have been, but he got screwed. Apparently he was offered View to a Kill, but then Moore came back anyway. Then Moore was supposed to do Living Daylights (ridiculous, really. He was too old for Kill) but pulled out. Dalton came in but had to deal with a very tongue in cheek script, the sort of stuff Roger could pull off. Licence to Kill was pretty good and the right tone for Dalton, but by then the damage was done and the franchise was on its arse. Hence a wait of several years before Martin Campbell's brilliant rescue job with Goldeneye. Ironically, he also directed the second rescue job in Casino Royale! He's obviously the franchises current fixer.

The sad thing is, Dalton's era didn't need fixing. Moore's and Brosnan's definitely did.
