National Identity

I just saw an interesting article on the BBC website written by Clive James. For those who don't know, he's an Australian broadcaster who has lived in the UK for many years, but has never forgotten to be Australian, casting his very dry humour on our very British ways, originally through several TV shows and now as a columnist. As such he is very popular, though sometimes I find him a little annoying. To his credit, I've always been impressed how he has never changed. Very Australian, I suppose.

This is a great read though, talking about national identity. Australia are apparently desperate for the film Australia to put them on the map... Amused by this, James also talks about Canadians and Lapland.

In fact, check this link first as it qualifies a couple of points in the second. Basically it sounded like a Santa's Grotto ran by Billy Bob Thornton's version!
