PS3 Gaming
« on: December 22, 2008, 01:46:26 AM »
I didn't see a thread focusing on the PS3 gaming. As far as I know, the discussions are buried in the PC gaming thread.

Over the holidays a colleague has given me his PS3 as a "BluRay evaluation kit" (he is away on holiday and cannot use it anyway during the time).

My brother and I have got "Resistance: Fall of Man" and "Ridge Racer 7" from a video rental store for this weekend. It is really a nice gaming experience playing with a modern console on my 40 inch TV screen :)
The last time I played a console game was on a NES

I can understand the pull of the PS3 gaming now. But I still won't buy me one. I can see how it can cut into DVD/BluRay watching time ;)
I will buy a standalone BluRay player early next year instead.

I don't really know Ridge Racer 7 (I love my Burnout Paradise though) and am currently playing Resistance: Fall of Men myself.

I actually never owned a console before and only played few games on the PC (I owned a C64 back in the days, which was mainly used for gaming...). I had thought, well, the PS3 is a good upgradable Blu-ray player and I can play a 'little' on the side too. WRONG. Once you start gaming, provided you have some baggage already, you can easily get hooked and spend substantial amounts of time doing so...

Not that I mind my gaming, but it does cut into the DVD watching time.
