Do I need to finish Halo 3 to understand ODST?

ODST takes place during Halo 2, so if you've completed that, you're fine.

Me and a friend were going to play through the campaign on co-op, but for some reason you can't save a non-online co-op campaign.

It's been a while since I played Halo 3 so can't help with this, sorry, but there may be a chance it's just not obvious, like in ODST where you have to remember where you were and manually change the starting mission.

But Halo 3 is a great game, I played it with a friend (online) and even got through it on Legendary, but didn't really play the multiplayer games cause we sucked!  ;D

I was playing Left 4 Dead last night and it works like that for off line co op campaign. I will take another look at Halo 3 and see if it does this. Thanks.

I have a few 360 games

The Darkness
Devil May Cry 4
Blue Dragon
Kameo
Perfect Dark
Left 4 Dead (cracked disc, was given for free :/)

I also have a HD drive and around HD DVDs, mainly what my 360 is used for, Im a big gamer! I have about 25 consoles, I just can't enjoy any games on this one :( I played Blue Dragon all the way through which I enjoyed and im part way through Kameo, Devil May Cry and The Darkness.

My brother has about 80 games, I played Kane and Lynch with him, that was pretty cool.

Id like to play Brutal Legand, if only for Jack Blacks voice acting.

The demo of Brutal Legend was really fun. I have played through it 3 times already.

I am certainly not blind-buying this one, as there is just too much coming out over the next too months (two of which are RPGs and require loads of playtime). I will, however, give the demo a fair chance once I return from my vacation. It's Tim Schaeffer after all...

I will not be buying it either. I guess I am done buying games until after the holidays.  :weep: Luckily I borrowed Halo 3 from a friend, so I have that to play for a while.

Very late reply but I find it so sad that Tim Schafer's more recent games haven't reached more people. I mean, his resume is basically a list of my favorite past games!
# 1987 Maniac Mansion, tools programmer, SCUMM
# 1990 The Secret of Monkey Island, co-writer
# 1991 Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, co-designer, co-writer
# 1993 Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle, co-designer, co-producer, co-director, co-writer
# 1995 Full Throttle, project leader, writer, designer
# 1998 Grim Fandango, project leader, writer, designer
# 2005 Psychonauts, creative director, co-writer, designer

I mean come on! Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle, Secret of Monkey Island, Full Throttle AND Grim Fandango on a single resume?

Add to that Psychonauts which is such a sleeper hit... One of the greatest game nobody played. (Can you tell I love adventure games? hahaha)

I got Dragon Age: Origins today. I shouldn't have... but it's a Bioware game, so I couldn't resist.

Can't wait!!

I keep reading it's a rather hardcore RPG, so not really for me. I think Fallout 3 and Borderlands is about as far as I am willing to go (that can change in the future).

BTW, I have received my Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition. As it's not released in Asia I had to order the US version. I needn't have worried, the US version does accept my Asian version's save file :yahoo: So no need to replay everything for now, I can pick up where I last left my character. Although, I found I forgot a lot, like where I found the Super Behemoths or where I traded what for maximum sales profit. :headscratch: But, I played for 2 hours yesterday and loved it! Again. Will finish the original game's final mission today, then kill the remaining four Super Behemoths (did so before for the trophy, but then stepped back to an older save) and then do the five additional mission sets in the reverse order of their review ratings.

Yeah I have to revisit Fallout 3 too. I've bought all the expansions (and got a free theme for it!) but I've yet to play most of them (I only really did Operation: Anchorage..)  :bag:

I hadn't read too much about it before buying. I just went on the name Bioware... Maybe I should have read a little more! It is rather hardcore! Not that I am all that far into it, but you are pretty much thrown in there with all these choices as to your character build not really knowing what each does..

And I'm not sure I like the combat.. It's sort of like what it was in Knight of the Old Republic, but without the pseudo-turn-base.. it's real time, yet the character is so slow, it's almost unbearable. Maybe that changes as your character gains levels, I'll see.

There's also a Fatigue stats attached to most armor item.. Guess that means you have to be careful which armor you wear!

There's an option for Persistent blood! It's rather funny, your character gets bloodied up during combat, and if you activate the persistent option, it stays there until you sleep!

But technically that is the same as Fallout 3! The Condition of the armor (or weapons) will get reduced from use, making it necessary to repair it at some point.

I like using the Brotherhood Power Armor (because it adds two points to strength and it allows me to carry more), but rarely find spare ones fo repair purposes :(

 I thought it referred to the gore of the battles (as usually dead guys or blood will disappear shortly after the incident...).

Well yes and no. I don't think the armor you wear degrades with time on Dragon Age, but, a spell that would cost 100 mana, could get a penalty of 10% from fatigue, which would make it cost 110 mana. It also affects how many special moves your warrior can do.

I haven't noticed for the dead guys.. I think they disappear after a while. But, there's a little touch I liked. There are wolves in the game. When you kill them, the body of the wolf stays there in a pool of blood. Sometimes, it'll shimmer indicating there's an object you can take. The object happens to be a "Wolf Pelt". Pretty standard stuff so far. But, if you do pick up the pelt, what will be left on the ground is a pile of bones! I thought it was a nice little touch!

I'm not all that far into the story yet, but there's already been a great loss, 2 betrayals, and 2 fallen leaders. That story is moving quick! It's pretty interesting so far! I like it!

Though the game shows its age. It's been in development since at least 2004 (it was announced back then as Dragon Age, and it gained the :Origins part somewhere along the way). Some animations feel a bit stiff and some textures are lacking. I understand it might be a limitation of the 360 as opposed to PC or PS3 (I've read somewhere that the textures on PC and pS3 are better than on Xbox), but still, after what they did with Mass Effect graphics wise, it's a bit disappointing.

But, like the true RPG fan of old, it's not about the graphics, it's about the gameplay and, especially, the story. And so far, it delivers!
