Do I need to finish Halo 3 to understand ODST?

Me and a friend were going to play through the campaign on co-op, but for some reason you can't save a non-online co-op campaign.
The demo of Brutal Legend was really fun. I have played through it 3 times already.

I am certainly not blind-buying this one, as there is just too much coming out over the next too months (two of which are RPGs and require loads of playtime). I will, however, give the demo a fair chance once I return from my vacation. It's Tim Schaeffer after all...
I got Dragon Age: Origins today. I shouldn't have... but it's a Bioware game, so I couldn't resist.Can't wait!!
I keep reading it's a rather hardcore RPG, so not really for me. I think Fallout 3 and Borderlands is about as far as I am willing to go (that can change in the future).
There's also a Fatigue stats attached to most armor item.. Guess that means you have to be careful which armor you wear!
There's an option for Persistent blood! It's rather funny, your character gets bloodied up during combat, and if you activate the persistent option, it stays there until you sleep!

The Condition of the armor (or weapons) will get reduced from use, making it necessary to repair it at some point.

I thought it referred to the gore of the battles (as usually dead guys or blood will disappear shortly after the incident...).
