I just hope he will not start to review all the Carry On movies and praise them, because I will finally need to import the set and it is quite costly... The only comment he did so far is that Carry On Girls is awfull, but I almost feel it's a thumb-up one line review for me

Maybe we should be more selective in what reviews of his we read.

I can imagine him in front of his computer openning our forum and seeing (SP?) a new whatyougot or pre-order message thinking what I will be blame for this time

It's getting that way! But I'm steadily proving the value of British TV internationally, so I'll shoulder the responsibility...

After watching the US version... I been wanting to check out the original version of Being Human. Unfortunately it is so expensive at amazon.. $24 for season 1 which is only 6 (maybe 7?) episodes. I may end up getting it... but not for maybe a month or so.

If I get it... can I blame Jon too? I mean... it does seem all the rage! :tease:

Do you know if they are region free? I still only have a Region 1 player over here.

No region 2, but almost every dvd reader can be easily modify to become region free. Just give me the brand and model of yours and I will try to find how for you.

Your lucky since Phillips is the easiest brand to make zone free (it isn't for nothing if all my DVD players were that brand).

1. Turn on the unit
2. Open the loading tray
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
5. Enter 138931
6. You will now see the current region code displayed
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all
regions
8. Press the "Play" button on the remote

P.S : this isn't from me, but I have use this website to remove the zone restriction of all my dvd reader and my current BR reader and never had a problem.

Thanks... I will try it out once I finish watching the show I am watching right now. Not sure how I would test it though... think all my discs are R1 or R0 :P

My last DVD player was a Phillips.  Its remote control just stopped working...either that or, for some reason, the player stopped responding to the remote.  Because of that, I've decided to not buy any other Phillips DVD or Blu-ray players.  :-\

you must remember though, Rog, that any such problem can happen on any brand and it's also worth bearing in mind that Phillips were so instrumental in the technology, other brands are sometimes Phillips inside with a different badge!

... or that the remote (incl. the signal receiver) weren't built by Phillips, so that you might get it in slightly different shape from other companies too.
Nowadays you can't really tell anymore which parts of the product (if any) were actually built by the company that puts it's badge on it.

Just remember that's you've publicly accepted responsibility for this.  You can't take it back.

That is the only drawback to shows from England for me...the price. But so far, for the ones I've watched, they have been well worth the price.
Seasons on tv shows from England tend to be shorter.  I was thinking there were about 12 episodes for the first season of Being Human.

I've seen 4 of the episodes...now I want that set too.  I've only seen the first episode of the US version.  I'm liking the original more I think.

Ohh..and of course you can blame Jon if you get it.   ;D  He's has already admitted he is to blame when we buy shows from England..so blame away.

That's why I told to Pete to export them from Great Britain, sure you got a region 2 dvd but 90% of the dvd readers are zonefree (the manufacturers themselve make them this way, only Sony and a couple of other continue to restrict their readers) but for those who like those shows you get a better deal.

It's always the first thing I check before getting a dvd reader. All the dvd readers I bought were easy to convert as all region reader, my computer is all region (cost me a little bit more than 30$ to get the necessary software to do so) and even my Blu-Ray reader is multizone. For this last one it's a little bit more annoying because I must enter the code everytime since the reader always revert to its original region.
