TV Show Intros
« on: November 19, 2008, 10:41:33 PM »
Hi,

over the next few months I will rip the intros of the TV shows I've got. Maily the ones of the first episode of each season but if the intro changes I will rip the intro of the last episode, too. And then maybe some special intros like the "Psi Corps" intro from one spisode of Babylon 5's season or the Friends episode where everyone is "Arquette" (6th) season.

If anyone is interested, let me know and I will share.

Now I have to figure out how to get ActiveX working in an HTML window.

Can you believe, that there was a time, that I taped TV show intros on VHS?  ;D
I remember I had among others all different intros of "The Cosby Show" and "A Different World".

I've randomly chosen some intros, ripped and uploaded them.

You can find them here (german names).

Due to copyright issues the directory is password protected but any of you here is free to PM me and you'll get it.

The names of the videos are the IDs from Invelos: UPC, EAN, manual ID, ... If. The suffix after the "_" is a simple number which represents the episode number from which the intro was taken (the number can be from 01 to 26)

I've also written a HTML window for DVD Profiler which is able to find the video and play it. The conditions for this to work are: The Name of the video has to be as described above. Of course you have to change the UPC. And the videos have to be placed parallel to you cover images directory into a directory called "Intros".

You can download the window here. And you are of course free to change anything you want.

If you want, I could do some. Just tell me what settings you used (to have the files uniform) and I'll do some over the weekend.

Currently I am toying with different tools. I haven't found a ripper yet that maintains the 16:9 aspect ratio. I've used three different tools and they made it either 4:3 or 2:1 but not 1.78:1.

Have you tried Gordian Knot from http://doom9.org/ ??

I find it usually gives great results.

I just tried two. I used DVDFAB to do them. Very easy to use.

http://www.dvdalistic.com/transfer/Alias_S1_Ep1.avi
http://www.dvdalistic.com/transfer/Lexx_S2_Ep1_Intro.avi

Let me know what you think!

Also, is it possible that DVDx amplifies the sound? Because it's insane how difference in sound level is present between your encode and mine. And I didn't do anything to the sound, except specify I wanted it in MP3 format...

I've finally gotten the hang of this and managed to capture 16:9 correctly, too.

And I've re-organized the webspace to let you at least peek into the list.

This password protection is not meant as an insult to any of us forum members but this forum is public and so is the link and I simply don't want a confrontation with any copyrights guy.

But any of you who asks will get the password.
