 :bag: :-[ :-\ Busted.

Thought I could slip that one in. It was just starting this morning when I turned on the TV so I left it on. I have about 200 movies here, the rest of them are in storage for when I move. Talk about slim pickings! I may have to get to the storage shed soon (the move may be delayed yet again). There are about 400 movies I've yet to see (many of them are good even!  ;) )

Anyway... Police Academy III. Have seen it before. Obviously didn't expect much  but even at that I was disappointed. It recycled a lot of the situations and jokes that worked pretty good in the 1st Police Academy, which I enjoyed.

.... really was hoping to just slip this one in under the radar

Thanks for fessing up Rick  ;)

I just watched Karla. Shocking true story, I'm sure the guys in Canada will be aware of this gruesome murdering couple, but I hadn't heard of them until watching the film. Unbelievable to think she is now released from jail!!

A very good film and recommended

It's not the finishing time - it's the journey to get there  :hysterical:

As I was doing too well I've added "$&*+#? 7 new symbol titles to my marathon  :weirdo: so 35 to view in total

I have watched Toki wo kakeru shôjo (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) again for this marathon. This movie has become my favorite movie of the year. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves fun time-travel movies (and also to others). It has won the best animation film award at the Japanese Acedemy Awards.

I think it hasn't been released as RC1 yet. But I hear the Korean release is really great and it has English subtitles (but it seems to be out of print :( ). There also is an Hong Kong release with English subtitles.

Today I watched "Air Force One". One of my favorite actors in one of my favorite roles of his. How can you not like the classic "get off my plane" line

Also watched "The Return" starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Wow. Was this thing crap. It was all over the place. I gave it a 3 out of 10 and 2.5 of those were because it had SMG in it :drooling:

So far I have double dipped on my "E" and my "S"  :bag:

Today, so far, I have watched "RRRrrrr!!!" again. One of my favorite French comedy!

And so, I thought I'd follow it up with "Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob"... Was there any jokes in there? I surely didn't see any. Yes, 1 or 2 situations made me smile, but nothing more. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, I don't know.

And these two films brought me to the middle point of my marathon. 14 watched, 14 to go. I'll probably get 2 more in tonight.

Weird double-bill today. Galaxy Quest had to be done for Q. I always loved this Star Trek parody. I also watched The Sword of Doom. Massive disappointment. It's a Japanese Samurai film and I thought I'd like it because it would be like a Kurosawa. Sadly not. It's brilliant in it's own way and a couple of the battles are spectacular, but the story seems to be told at random and has lots of threads missing, including the end! Reading the notes, it was based on an old serialised story and apparently the Japanese would have known what the missing bits were and not minded, in fact, that seems to be the point.

Me? I like a beginning, a middle and -if it's not too much trouble- an end. I'm not fussy. I don't mind if they aren't in that order, or if I have to wait for a sequel, but you get what I'm saying?

Just finished watching "The Phantom of the Opera", the 1989 version with Robert Englund.

I liked it. It's nice to see a different take on that old story. Usually, they play the sentimental / romantic overtones of the story, with the Phantom's inner turmoil and shame of his disfigurement. Here, while they still play on the romantic side of the story, they add back the darkness of the Phantom, with the traps in the opera house and the killings. The disfigurement is gruesome, and the mask being made from the flesh of his victim is a nice twist. Robert Englund plays the well too, and manages to distance himself from Freddy, despite playing again a disfigured psychopath, he manages to add in to his performance some of the nuance of the Phantom character. Bill Nighy as the opera owner is good too.

Just finished Dead Alive aka Braindead.

That's how I like my zombie movies: plenty gory and fun at the same time.

(click to show/hide)

Sorry for the spoiler, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who may have not seen it yet. And if you haven't... What are you waiting for?

and the famous lawn mower scene.
"Party's Over!"  :hysterical:

Oh, an all-time favorite of mine. Loved it the first time I saw it at an film festival in Germany. (Too bad my E and D are already covered in the November marathon.)

I have recently been trying to find a full length DVD of this (while the gore is uncut, the US releases are 7 minutes shorter than the original). Or better, they make a Special Edition release, cashing in on the fame of the director who made "Lord of the Rings" and "King Kong"...

I'm on my 10th movie with only 6 letters/numbers covered. Really got to get to my storage and get some more choices if I'm going to participate...  :bag:

Watched "The Eiger Sanction" yesterday. Clint Eastwood flick from the 70s for those who don't know it. I believe I saw it a long time ago but didn't remember it. It was pretty good. I really liked the scenery. Great cinematography. If it had a better score that would have helped.

I saw it was Eastwood's 4th film as a director. I wasn't aware he was directing that long ago. Quite a career he has had.
