I just love Saving Private Ryan dts for demo. You want to talk about a wild expierience. Also Band of Brothers ep 2 When the plans are over Normandy.
I just realized I recommended two stories about the same day. Huh... funny.
 Also Se7en and Unbreakable. Both dts soundtracks are amazing, especially when the scenes are raining. Makes me get my umbrella.
Also Gladiator EE and King King(2005) EE. Both Dolby DIgital Tracks are demo worthy also

i love watching films in surround sound it makes it alot better to watch. I'm going to buy oldboy when i get paid on Friday sounds like a great film i have a onky home theater system in 5.1 surround cant wait to watch it.

I found this surprising at first... Then I realized that good sound is not only about explosions, guns and cars but also, if not more, for subtle noises and otherwise precise sound design.

Oh how I pine for surround sound. I have a 50 inch Plasma, blu-ray DVD player but no good speakers. They make the TV's well now but the sound still isn't fantastic, the levels aren't even which can be frustrating as some things are too loud and others too quiet. That usually results with having to adjust the volume lots throughout a film. Oh well, maybe one day I will enjoy the joy of surround sound, I mean, I'm certainly happy with the set up I have now.

A few that come to mind:

An American Haunting - Not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but I remember enjoying it more because of the sound mix.
The Descent - All those critters in the cave circling my living room was pretty intense.
Below - A highly underrated horror/thriller enhanced by the terrific use of rears and side speakers.

Ooh, thanks for waking up this thread, Alien. I'd forgotten about it.

I've recently upgraded my sound system and can now repeat the recommendation for Saving Private Ryan, which is just superb. And Cloverfield, which I talked about in another thread. Felt like the bloody monster had got hold of my house and was trying to rip it out of the ground...

Indeed. A couple of great examples of this are the Japanese Superbit releases of Philadelphia and Taxi Driver.

A couple decent ones to give your system a workout:
German 4 disc release of The Frighteners. They went overload on the LFE usage for the DTS track.
Swordfish - But only for the bomb with the ball bearings.
Hard Boiled - The HK release has a cracking DTS track.
The Fast and the Furious - Stand about 8 feet from your sub and watch your jeans rattle like you're standing in gale force winds as the cars take off from the line. The DTS track isn't on the Turbo Edition.
U-571 - Crap film, great track. The amoun t of history they tryed to change, I could've sworn Mel Gibson was involved.
Band of Brothers - Very nice usage of the surrounds and they managed to avoid going silly with the bass and made the different explosions have different effects on the sub. Nice use.

I don't know why you Brits are always so upset about U-571. If they made a movie about the Americans doing all of the work, it must be true.
