I just watched this yesterday. Didn't use any "preview-channels" to get early access, so had to wait for the DVD.

Wow, what a great show. Basically it was just like a 2-hour movie cut into five pieces. Production values extremely high. Great stroy.

Question though: This was on TV, in the UK? I didn'zt found any indication that the DVD was gorier than the aired stuff, which made me wonder what kind of channel had this. I mean, the gore is extreme, the goriest stuff I had seen in a while in any movie, let alone TV.

Awesome show.

This is why I think the UK still sets a high-standard for TV, because it was broadcast in full. Well, I think so anyway; it was incredibly gory! It was on Channel 4 who have been known to take more risks than any other channel. They broadcast Big Brother, so they were able to use their own logos and sets, which was cool.

They've also done things like live autopsies, but as a nation, our TV is fairly restricted in other ways.

Just ordered it sooner today after all the good thing Jon had said about this. I will probably get it next week since the British branch of Amazon had it in stock, but I've to wait untill october to look at it (see Pete you're not the only one without horror ;)).

Just hope that it won't be a deception like 28 weeks later, but a nice surprise like Cashback was.

O.k., I was gonna do this before but then saw in this thread that you had already downloaded it, making me assume you already watched it. So, here it is: my online retailer had accidentally packaged two discs of this, leaving me with one spare, which I would like to send to you, no strings attached.

PM me and we can get this going. It should still reach you within October's marathon timeframe.

I'll double check, but IIRC I already looked and according DVD Profiler this DVD is region free (otherwise I wouldn't have made the offer, as I know that you don't have a region free player). ;)

Nice to know since it wasn't mention on the Amazon website.
Not that I can't read any region dvd on my computer, but I must extract every non zone 1 dvd to my hard disc before watching them. I can live easilly with this, but it's a boring step to do before watching something.

Jimmy, you might want to take a look at these, especially if you watch DVD on your computer (I personally use DVD43 extensively)

http://www.dvd43.com/

or this

http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html

or this

http://www.dvdidle.com/index.htm

(the first one is free, the others are commercial solutions)

I already use DVD Decrypter to copy all the content of non zone 1 dvd on my hard disc. I've tried dvd43 in the past, but I haven't liked it (maybe I should retry it).

AnyDVD was the best thing I've used before the demo expired. I've found a cracked version of it one time, but I was unable to make it works since a trace of the demo is always on my disc somewhere (this software isn't really easy to remove). Too bad that I haven't found this version before the demo.... Yeah I know it's bad to use an illegal software, but the licence is too costly (more than 100 $CAN for a lifetime one).

DVD Idle looks interesting and the cost isn't over the top (39,95 $US), I will try the demo for a month and see if I like it or not.

 :thanks:

As I said in the other thread I just got my copy from Achim!  :yahoo:

Question though. What is this exactly? Is it like a mini-series that we have here (Salem's Lot, The Stand) or is it an actual TV Series such as Friends and such? Also if it is more of a TV Series will there be a second season? (or series since it is the UK) :P

It was a one-off special, Pete, screened over consecutive nights last year. Have you ever seen Big Brother? I'm sure you had your version, every country did. The contestants are isolated for weeks and their only contact with the outside is what the producers tell them, so they don't get TV or news of any kind. They're also trapped in a compound, which when you think about it, is a decent place to be during a zombie outbreak. Not for long though! I just think it was an amazing idea, very well done. Especially as Davina was such a good sport. She's one of our most popular hosts and has fronted Big Brother for its entire run.

This is a clip from a panel show she was a guest on. Might be nice if you get an idea of what she's like before you see her in Dead Set...  :P

And this is a nice clip of her during the very first Big Brother. Gives you a taste of the format, so again you'll appreciate how they lampooned it so well for the horror...

Thanks Jon...
Yes I am familiar with Big Brother. The reasons I wanted to know what it would be considered.. a miniseries or a TV Series is...

1. When doing my horror marathon I count TV Series in the TV Episode list and Mini-series as movies (plays more like a movie on the DVD)
2. Would I count this as a Completed TV Series in that thread? (I don't count miniseries there)
