As I have said on the Invelos forum... I am really loving collecting images for the Gallery in DVD Profiler. I had 1 person PM me over there about sharing galleries... So I figured if I do this I may as well make my collection of images available to everyone. If anyone is interested in any of my images I will be thrilled to put what you want into a zip file and send them to you.

Note that most the images I have is ones I found online... so the quality of the images are anywhere from poor to high res images. The number following the title is the number of images I have for that profile. Most the ones with just a single image is a movie poster. Anyway... if anyone is interested... at this point I have...

You know, we could do something like you did with ajm for the EPG. Zip up each movie as a single zip file, and put it online. More work right now, but a lot less down the line..

yeah... definitely possible... but we would need to work out a way to easily update the zip files as we add or replace (better quality) images for that movie/show.

Not to mention it may be harder as we would need quite a bit of space as the images will add up.

Another possibility would be a galleries type system. 1 gallery = 1 film and all the images are listed for the film. Then the person could pick the pictures he wants, instead of getting it all and deleting the ones they don't want. I think the system I'm thinking even offers whole gallery download as a zip file. I'd have to check.

Not to mention it may be harder as we would need quite a bit of space as the images will add up.

For me, space and bandwidth shouldn't be a problem. Unless you plan on having more than 110 GB (minus my phpdvdprofiler collection) of galleries

As for bandwidth, I have 5TB available per month, of which I use about 4GB... plenty of room to grow

cool... working up a gallery does sound better then just downloading a zip file and then picking and choosing. 

Well at this point I am still working on my list... but if we can do something like this... with a way that any of us can make additions... that would be awesome!

Well... No. I wouldn't want everybody to be able to add pictures. There'd be uploader accounts for those that want to add pictures. They'd be freely downloadable though.

Another thing that just occurred to me.. since I get most of my images from the net... lots of them has watermarks/site addresses and such on them... could that cause a problem?

Well no. The only problem I see, is that we'd be redistributing images for which we don't have a copyright, but since we're not making money out of it, the worst that could happen, is I'd get a ceade and desist asking me to remove said pictures. But before we get noticed enough for that, we have time to have fun hehe

Of course, as opposed to the cars site, ours would be searchable (by movie title, actors, upc, etc tags are your friend, although they have to be set upon uploading the pictures to actually be useful).

There's even the possibility for batch upload via right-click context menu in Windows for the uploaders. (or web based, or ftp, i think there's even a java applet for uploading, if i'm not mistaken)

Like I mentioned above, there's the possibility for zipped full album downloads, as well as individual images.

We can have comments on albums, and pictures. Picture ratings. The possibilities are almost endless!

I've only tinkered with it a few years ago, but remember it was quite powerful.

I don't know if the system can make the difference between viewed and downloaded, but I'll see if it's available!
