Both excellent movies.  Breaker Morant was one of  Mel Gibson's first serious dramatic roles.  Superb movie in my humble opinion.  Another extremely good but overlooked movie with Mel was "Tim", also an Australian production if I am not mistaken.  However, let's not overlook some of Australia's comedic efforts as well.  I would highly recommend:

I love The Dish. I can't recommend it enough. The Castle is good too.

PS - I was brought up in Australia in the 70's and early 80's, and remember Paul Hogan in his own show with a stupid mate who wore a lifesavers hat. Anyone know the name of this series and whether it is available on DVD?

I remember that show too! We had it in Germany for a while. The IMDb entry says he only played in one episode, even though the show ran for 11 years

The "The Paul Hogan Show, The Best Of DVD" is available in R4 at DVD Orchard. (If that link doesn't work, go to DVD Orchard and search for "Paul Hogan Show".) Atlantic DVD (why would they name a shop in Australia like that???) has it too. Amazon.co.uk yielded no results.

Spot on, thanks for that, exactly the series I meant with the gorgeous Delvene Delaney, she used to get my young heart racing  (Also seen in that wonderful Aussie classic 'The young Doctors')
