Rerun Marathons
« on: October 07, 2007, 11:04:44 PM »
This is not a start of a marathon, but a proposal of a specific kind of marathons. I got this idea from an old German Buffy newsgroup.

Someone opens a marathon thread picking a series, which has a high probability that it would have rerun character for most of us.
Then all who are interested to participate make a post saying so.
Then on a weekly schedule, episodes are watched (this gives the chance to participate in other marathons). The thread starter announces on Monday the next episode to be watched, and everyone who joined in has until Sunday to watch that episode and then post his/her mark for that episode with optionally a short review/thought.
The thread starter takes the average of the marks and updates the first post with the episode title + average mark + vote count.

To have a common ground, I propose the scale 0-10.

What do you guys think?

If I have got that show on DVD or on HDD, count me in.

Nice idea.  I'm in too......if I have the show or can get it for a reasonable price of course.

Yeah, I like this idea, though my collection of TV may not be quite so universal. Buffy would be a good start! :D

Yeah, that's a great idea. Would give me an incentive to revisit TV shows I've not watched in years.

I have a relatively small selection of TV series on DVD, but if I have it, I'll join.

I had thought of Buffy myself. But I think for a start-up I will start with a marathon of a short series like Fawlty Towers. Also it is possible to have more rerun marathons simultaniously. This way, there is something for everybody. But we have to keep attention, that there aren't too many at once which could be interesting.

I'd say, I will start one as a start to see how it goes. Then others can also start marathons.

hmmm, and Fawlty Towers is on my wishlist... the BBC can be a bit overpriced though.

I compiled a selection of series with under 20 episodes. Please provide each of you, which of these you are willing/capable to watch.
I must probably count the votes in about 4-5 hours to start the marathon. Otherwise I probably will only be able to start it in 28 hours. Or should I wait these 28 hours?

Here the list:
Fawlty Towers (12 episodes)
Freaks and Geeks (18 episodes)
God, the Devil and Bob (13 episodes)
Greg the Bunny (13 episodes)
Grosse Pointe (17 episodes)
The Job (19 episodes)
My So-Called Life (19 episodes)
Police Squad (6 episodes)
Spaced (14 episodes)
That's My Bush (8 episodes)
The Thin Blue Line (14 episodes)
The Tick: Live Action (9 episodes)
Undeclared (17 episodes)
Wonderfalls (13 episodes)
