The 10 Most Terrifying Video Game Enemies of All Time

Saw it this morning. I must say, if I had to single one out of these 10, it'd be the polygon monster from Out of This World. It's really terrifying when after your 10 first tries, you still haven't managed to escape it. And like they say, all in the first 90 seconds of the game!

But I loved Out of This World! It's a great game!

The first one as stupid as it looks is the scariest in the list for me. I've played this game at the arcade and it was already hard to play (control and shoot with 2 joysticks and everything can kill you, definitively a quarter eating game), but if you take more than 2 minutes (ok maybe more...) to end a level this invicible ennemy come at you. The wall doesn't disturb him at all, most of the time the result was that you panic, crash in a wall and die.

It come at you with this robotic and nighmarish phrase : "Intruder alert!...Intruder alert!..."

But they have forgot the pterodactyl in Joust, but it was possible to kill him

Good call for the poison head crabs from Half-Life 2, but I personally found the blind plant monster from the original worse. You had to move so slowly, and! Even then! It would still peck your balls off as soon as you scraped the ladder. The bastard. In a typical Half-Life scenario you had to sneak around him several times to power up the various elements required for barbecuing Seymour's big brother, a moment of satisfaction rarely equalled in gaming.

I've just finished Call of Duty 4 and agree with one of the comments on there about the dogs. There's one in a sniper mission where he's chewing on a body and your captain says "pooch doesn't look too friendly" and advises he is left alone. Bullshit I thought and blew it's head off with my sniper rifle. Oh dear. The Call Of Duty series has always been enthusiastic about punishing needless violence... Pooch may not look friendly, but he sure as shit had friends! You get a few seconds of distant barking and growling and then they're on you from multiple directions.

I replayed the level and left pooch to his grub. :-[

Well, "zero punctuation" says it all, I guess... I'll give it a try later.

How could it not be? I am having loads of fun with it (unless I have just failed a misison for , like, the 3rd time and in some stupid way at that).

I am not sure right now how many missions I have completed already, but I still cannot cross the bridges to the second part of the city :weep: How long does that take...? (like, approximately)

 Don't remember... I'll look for it though and report back, since I can read the guides for those missions, as I've done them! (I think I have the 3rd island opened on my game. I seem to remember the game telling me the bridge had opened, though I've not tried, so I am not entirely sure).

I hope I misunderstood today, when I read it may take something like 10 hours of game play for the first batch of bridges to open... Well, not that that I am not having fun on just that one island.

Not really important though, no need to look around for the point when it happens. Better enjoy roaming around the whole city yourself!

Well, I haven't played for a few days because I got frustrated on a mission.

And looking for the point where the bridges open is not a problem. It's even already done!  ;)

Bohan (small, top-right island. Where the strip club is) opens at mission "Final Destination"
Algonquin (middle island) opens at mission "Blow Your Cover"
Alderney (left-most island) opens at mission "Three Leaf Clover" <-- Which is where I am, and frustrated as hell as I can't do this (bank heist, with 4-5 stars wanted level to escape)

So I don't have the whole maps open just yet.

Well, since it seems this thread has now turned into a "Gaming" thread, instead of a "PC Gaming" thread, here goes:

Possible sequel to BG&E!

I hope it does get picked up for release! I loved that game on Xbox!

PS: I just realised, it was released on PC too!

I had that the other day too. Failed repeatedly that I eventually slammed down the controller on the table and left the room :bag: Then didn't play for a day or two, mentally preparing for the mission. Then, with my heart pounding, I finished the mission right on the first time next time round. :yu:

Thanks! So I'll know when a mission title comes up, that

:hmmmm: I could be wrong, but I think I had already been to the Strip Club when I did Final Destination (which was one of the missions I needed more than 1 try).

Wanted level of 4-5! :o I read in a review that 6 practically means you/Niko are as good as dead... So if it really gets to a 5 then it must already be quite tough to get out of... Well, at least now I can prepare for the upcoming frustration :hysterical:

Don't remember, but the guide said Bohan unlocked at Final Destination. It's possible that the island is actually unlocked from the beginning. After all, it is such a small island.

I just read a guide, and there's no mention of how many stars. I may be wrong on that. After all, even a 4 stars level is a bit high for this point in the game.

Oh well, in any case, I still haven't even tried this mission again yet! Still too frustrated, so I'm playing Rock Band instead!

I think it was Final Destination, actually. It always took so long to get to the subway station and then that guy there just kept filling Niko up with bullets.
(click to show/hide)

Another one that took me a while was No Love Lost. I hadn't stolen many motorcycles before that, big mistake. While in pursuit I kept hitting lamp posts and whatnot and either the guy escaped or I died trying. (This is the one I mentally prepared for and then succeeded on the next try.

I did it!! I'm finally through "Three Leaf Clover" and "Holland Nights"!  :egyptian:

Man! That was tough! Oh and on Three Leaf Clover, while the wanted level does get to 5-star, it goes back down to 3 by the time you have to actually lose the wanted level by car. I can only say this: Make sure you have plenty of ammo, and try to find armor.

:o 5-star wanted level...? :suicide: That mjust be super-tough to loose! I have recently upset the police several times and gotten up to 4, maybe, and it always took a while to shake them, but 5? Well, in that bigger part of the city may be more room to loose them...

I have not yet "found" any armor...  :headscratch: Yes, I have bought some at the store or from Jakob, but never found it lying around...
