It actually sounds like it would be fun to have you as a play partner. But still, I don't want to get into WoW now.

I may find the temptation hard to resist though when Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out ....

I can understand that.  I wasn't real sure that I wanted to play the game myself at first either but after I found out more about it I decided I'd give it a try and I like it for the most part.

I've never played any of the Star Wars games.  I thought a few of them looked interesting.

That looks suspiciously like Leisure Suit Larry. You sure it's such a good thing that your name is in the game? Especially as a wig?

I just picked up my very own PS3 80GB.  :yahoo:  :yahoo:

I bought it more as a upconvert/blu-ray player than as a gaming system and plan on installing Yellow Dog Linux on it to make it dual-boot.

I wanted to checkout some games (since I didn't get any with the system itself  :weep: ). Is there any way to download demos from the PS3 Network and try them out?

Cheers!

Took them long enough!

Remember I posted above that the console had been delivered last Thursday? Well, I've been almost frantically checking the Xbox page showing the status of the repair ticket to see when they'd update it with a "Console Received" message. And when it didn't update, I started getting a bit concerned. Especially since on the Purolator page, an entry appeared in the tracking status saying the shipment was in transit via Montreal.. The thing is, this tracking entry appeared as having happened 4 hours AFTER the console having been delivered, AND it mentioned Montreal, QC, yet the console supposed to have been was delivered in Ontario!

Shot off an email to Purolator.. They answered that the package is shown as delivered and there's no reason to be concerned. The odd entry in the tracking page is probably a bug in Montreal's sort center server.

And finally, this morning, I just received an email from the big M that they received my console and are working on it!  :yahoo:

They are going to actually fix it instead of replacing it?

I don't know really. The message I got is that they received the console and are checking it.

My guess is they'll confirm the problem is the Xbox giving 3 red lights, and then send a replacement my way.

Here's hoping the replacement they send is one of the new Falcon model (65nm chip - instead of previous 90nm - Smaller = less heat = less problems)

Ahh ok.  How long has that newer model been out?  I know I read some stuff in 2007 about there have been changes made that was supposed to address the over heating issues.  I have thought a little about getting an XBOX 360 sometime, but I've held off, partly because of the price and partly because of the over heating issues.

The Falcon/Opus (65nm CPU) revision has been out since around Sept.07, so I should be getting that. Back when I first had the three red lights problem, the solution was a bigger heat sink, but they still shipped original 90nm process CPU. Since were over a year after the new 65nm model has been out, I'm guessing I'll get the new one. It should be easy to identify - from what I read, the newer 65nm model has lower power requirements, so I should be getting a new power brick for it.

That's probably the version I read about then.  I think it was last fall when I did some research.

The 10 Least Subtle Product Placements in Video Game History

I've played the first one in a real arcade and for every frequent users of the arcade the novelty of this game end really fast. Talk about an annoying game with a very bad gameplay  ::)

It was replaced really fast by Moon Patrol at our local arcade

P.S. : Our arcade was not really big : 2 or 3 games, 2 flippers, a pool table and a jukebox that always played Pat Benatar, Foreigner or "Un jour à la fois"(the owner like this song a lot and since he was not paying for his selection).

Never played any of those..never even heard of some of them before. Somehow I don't think I've missed much.

I'm still making progress in WOW.  I am now up to level 71 and I got exalted with another group which allowed me to get a special flying mount.  I will probably still do some more stuff in Outland that I haven't gotten to yet before I try heading to the new area.
