Topic: Anime: Why always 7 volumes?

There's a question that's been bugging me for a while, and maybe someone can shed some light on it (or we can just launch ourselves deep in conspiracy theories, and the meaning of the number 7 in life ), but why are almost every anime series released in Region 1 always 7 volumes? Why not 6? or 8? or even 10?

I realise dubbing these series probably costs some, and you have a recoup it some way, so the 4 episodes per volumes 7 times bring in a lot of money (especially if you start counting cost per minute at 25$+ per volume), but still.

Is there some significance in Japan (or USA) for the number 7 that I'm not aware of? (Yes, I know, The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42, not 7, but who knows, maybe in Japan! And then, 42 divided by 7 gives 6, and some series do have 6 episodes per volume  )

Anyway, if anybody has a possible answer, feel free.

The seven is a very powerful magical number. Didn't you read Harry Potter?

All non-canceled Star Trek shows had 7 seasons, the sum of all Star Trek seasons is 28 (4*7).

Actually, no. Not that I pride myself on it or anything. JKR announced early on there would be 7 books, so right at that point, I decided I would wait all those years for the 7 books to actually be released, and then buy all seven in one shot.

My mom "discovered" HP from volume 3. And she got them exactly the way I want to avoid: a boxset of the first three books, and then the rest separate, and some even have different designs for the covers. So what I'm doing is wait for the seventh to be released and for the boxset to be updated to contain book 7, and then I'm buying it all and finally indulging in the crazyness that is Harry Potter.
