I haven't checked it out yet... but I blind bought a TV Series on DVD this past week. one called Painkiller Jane. It originally aired on Sci-Fi channel.

Kristanna Loken of Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and Bloodrayne stars as Jane Vasco, a tough-yet-sexy DEA agent recruited by a covert government unit to hunt superhuman neurological aberrations - known as 'Neuros' - who can do dangerous things with their minds. But when Jane discovers that she herself can rapidly heal from any injury, she begins to investigate her own disturbing background. In this sole season of the Sci Fi Channel series, Jane and her team battle assassins, arsonists, time loops, prison breaks, mythical beasts, undead armies, killer hallucinations and more, all in a bullet-riddled world of the very near future where nothing may be what it seems...and pain is always a bitch.

So... anyone here familiar with it? I know it only lasted one season... and see it wasn't really liked going by reviews I seen... but would like opinions from people I know. I read this is based on a comic book character... if it is just the fact that it didn't follow the comics... that would be ok since I never seen the comics of it either.

I watched the 1st couple of episodes is all and really don't remember much about it.

I enjoyed it but I believe it was on against a couple of other things that took priority on the DVR. Next thing I knew it was gone. I'll probably grab it when it hits a super sale.

I am afraid you just missed a right good sale on it Rick. I got it for $20... with 22 episodes.. that is less then a dollar per episode. Unfortunately I just looked... it is now back up to $30.99 at Amazon.

But now I just looked at deepdiscount.com... they have it for $22.88 but with the 20% off code (dvdtalk) you can get it for about $18.30 (approx 83cents per episode) if you are interested (a better deal then I got... FIGURES!)  :P

Firefly was one of my favourite discoveries on DVD - recommended by some friends.  I don't know why they didn't make more.

Then there are lots of series I've bought on DVD that I already knew, but it's so much easier to watch on DVD, or I'd missed earlier series.  E.g. I saw series 5 of 24 on TV, having never seen it before, got hooked and then bought all the rest on DVD.  It's much quicker to watch without adverts (and skipping the intro each time) and it doesn't take half a year for them to transmit the episodes!

Firefly was one of my favourites too. I reckon I could spend the licence fee on boxsets and be better off!  :P

Welcome to the forum, Geoff. Hope you stick around.  :D

Oh boy, what have I done?

I tried to convince my mother (from whom I inherited my interest for Sci-Fi shows) that Buffy was a good TV show. But she had no interest in watching it. But I don't give up that easily. Then I convinced her that this one guy from "Bones" also played a guy called "Angel" and she watched a few episodes of the fifth season on TV.

Her birthday was back in late August and among her real gifts a smuggled in a copy of the first season of Buffy (it's legal to make copies for private use around here). She watched it within less than a week and ordered both full series of Buffy and Angel. This morning she calls and tells me that she's finished Buffy and is now starting Angel. :o 5 weeks!!!

To say it's a "teen" show often sneered at by people who thinking jumping to conclusions is a sport, Buffy seems very popular amongst the middle-aged too. My Mum and Dad loved it.

 I think that is awesome! My mother is 75 years old now... and she loves Buffy. The strange thing is though... even though she has tried... she can't get into Angel.

Oh... and she refuses to watch Bones... she says she still sees him as Angel and spends the entire episode wondering why he is in the sunlight and not bursting into flames  She says it just don't feel right to her.  :P
