Wonderfalls
« on: June 02, 2007, 03:05:33 PM »
I started watching it last night.  Usually it takes me a while to get into something but I liked that show from the first episode.  I watched 4 in a row, fell asleep on the 4th one because I took too many pain killers (tooth ache) so I'll have to watch it again.

I don't understand why Fox pulled it out after only 13 episodes.  Granted that it's not the best tv series ever, it's still pretty good.  I'll watch more today but so far I really enjoy this.

I loved this show!... I watched it on FOX as it aired... and since then watched the whole series a couple times on DVD! This is one that got me hooked from the very first episode also... and don't ask me what FOX was thinking... who knows! But they have a terrible habit of canceling great series without even giving them a chance! I am still peeved about how they handled the whole Tru Calling situation!  >:(

I remember that FOX advertised Wonderfalls as "The best thing on TV since Ally MacBeal" and also made some (false) similarities with McBeal seeing babies and Jaye in Wonderfalls hearing animals talking.  I think people expected something more like Ally McBeal and were maybe disappointed because it's quite different.

Fox did screw up big time anyway, they shouldn't have cancelled the show after only 13 episodes.

I just finished watching all 13 episodes and it was 13 hours of pure amusement and enjoyement.  I can only say one thing about Fox cancelling the show after only 4 episodes.  The idiots "foxed up" real good.

I agree Touti... but the one thing I am thankful for is the fact it ended in a decent way... no huge cliffhangers to suffer over.   :P

Those who understand french may want to listen to this 13 minutes interview with Caroline Davhernas that was recorded a few days after the 1st episode was aired.  It's interesting to hear her talk about how Fox really backed them up for this show, she says it's very uncommon for a studio to record so many episodes (13) before airing a single one.

Apparently they aired it on friday night on purpose specifically because they wanted to give a chance to build up and audience.

This is totally incompatible with flushing a show after 4 episodes, I wonder what happened.

I had heard or read somewhere this was supposed to be a good series so when it went on sale recently for 19.99 at best buy, for $20 i'm more willing to try it than at $40. I picked up Dark Angel 1 and 2, Firefly complete, and Point Pleasant complete. They sounded interesting and at $20 each as long as my wife and i are entertained for a few hours we are happy.

Just bought a copy too. I'll pick it up tomorrow (I chose store pickup, I'm cheap and don't want to pay shipping when possible   :P).

Also bought a few other titles along with it that I shouldn't have.. oh well! Nothing an evening at overtime wage can't fix! ;D

Hey! I'm now even happier to have bought Wonderfalls now. Not only was it at an irresistible price at Futureshop and starred an actress from around here, as I was reading about it a little just now, I learn that Sheriff Jim Valenti (Roswell fans will know who I'm talking about) plays in it too! ;D

Oh and just a quick note Addicted.. I just downloaded the EPG you did for it, and notice you wrote "Carolina Dhavernas". Is she credited as such in the series (haven't had time to put the disc in to check yet)? Because usually, her name is Caroline Dhavernas.

In any case, I've changed my copy (actually, I've removed all references to the commentary, as it's not interesting information to me) but I was just curious.

My wife and i just finished watching the first four episodes (disc 1). Definitely worth the $20 we spent, i intended to only watch the first episode, but got interested and watched the next three. I don't watch alot of tv shows, mostly because i don't get into most of them enough to remember to watch every week.
If it was'nt for my wife i would have missed most of the sopranos and deadwood episodes, and i really liked those shows.

That must of just me doing a typo in the EPG... because she is indeed credited as Caroline. Then I remember copying and pasting the commentary info for each episode there was one for... and ended up copying the typo. (yes I am a lazy typist!)  :P

Good eyes though... as long as I have had this boxset and the epg... I never noticed it! :P

 :o

I just had to dig it out and check mine... All's fine here  ;D

Good thing you noticed it early, that way you can still exchange it. Imagine letting the set sit on the shelf for 1-2 years before watching it, and then that... >:(

Yeah sometimes we don't get around to watching some stuff we buy for quite awhile. I sometimes buy a movie or tv series/show because it's something i really liked or it sounded like a title i would like, but have no intention of watching it right away. I know from experience, if you want it buy it now or you may never find it again, especially with some of the more obscure/strange stuff i like sometimes.

I have had this happen to me before on another set... really pissed me off! But I have learned then... Now every time I get a new set... the first thing I do is open it and check to be sure all discs are right and that there is no damage done to the set anywhere. I do this with every DVD I get now... much better to be safe then sorry!
